Ixamyakxim: Sounds like a fun day! (Yes I actually DO enjoy setting up / decorating a new space as well) and awesome choice in games for a follow up! I'm a HUGE FTL fan and hope you end up getting as much joy out of the game as I have. Papers, Please is one I've always been mildly intrigued by - I've heard and read many good things about it. And grim is a good descriptor I would think - but I always figured I might find it a bit boring. Feel free to toss up a few extra impressions - in the least it'll keep the thread alive just a bit longer ;)
The decorating brings me happiness too. It was fun shopping for the various pieces, and today I stumbled across a
really cool chair to finish the place. Now I've just got to set up the technology bits and the space is complete!
I'm loving FTL, even as it brutally savages my ship on Easy. I'm an old roguelike fanatic and this one just seems to hit a sweet spot. Even after a longish campaign ends in defeat, I find myself wanting to go at it again.
Only had one session with Papers, Please so far. It ended with my entire virtual family dying from the compounded effects of illness, cold, and starvation. I suck as a passport examiner clearly, and can barely process them fast enough just to make rent. But it's still fun. Your governmental masters tack on new bureaucratic regulations every day, complicating your job, and there are various storylines occurring as well. It's pretty compelling, even if you feel like a soulless apparatchik at the end of it all. :)
