sedricm: Though that may be so, gog did not realize how dramatic and widespread a community activity the sale would become the first time...(how could they?) They even said right at the top of their news bulletin for this Spring sale that for the first insomnia, they were expecting it to just be like any other sale. Then the Keaning transpired and took over not only the forums but even interfered with non-forum aspects of the site (like the reviews)...and even influenced activities on other websites that had no official connection to gog.com at all!
This time they knew that doing another Insomnia sale would be like a, uh, <ahem> "second coming" of Keane, (sorry, couldn't resist the metaphor) and even seemed to be encouraging everyone to get wrapped up in the silliness.
They may not do anything special at the end of this one, but *I* would certainly *not* be surprised if they had something else up their sleeves...
After all, did you see the little joke they did at the end of round 1!?
Yeah that was fun x 18000!:D.....who knows.....it would definitely be cool if they went out with something special this time around! This time they knew that doing another Insomnia sale would be like a, uh, <ahem> "second coming" of Keane, (sorry, couldn't resist the metaphor) and even seemed to be encouraging everyone to get wrapped up in the silliness.

Kamamura: The best thing is that to train effectively with all those weapons, my constant mood was ANGRY. I just imagined the little princess in a dress, face red as a tomato, sitting on her pretty palanquin, shouting with a deep, thundering voice - "You imbeciles! Where the foick is my sword, where the heck is my armor, how comes I am sitting here like a stupid duck in an arrow storm, what the frack is this stick protruding from my gut... aaaarrrrrggghhhh...."
Just epic.
This almost makes me wish I'd purchased a copy. Almost.Just epic.

Stilton: I was actually thinking about Dad's Army, an old British TV sitcom about some ageing home guard volunteers from WW2. There's a crazy old Scotsman called Fraser who would always come out with a spooky story when the situation got dark and lonely and nine times out of ten he'd end it with the same word repeated in a ghostly voice.
Don't make them like that any more, John LeMesurier was legendary in that show *salute*.Kamamura

Damn, I just hate those RPGs that let you train some very specialized skill that looks ultra powerful only to find out that it was useless in the end. Like Das Schwarze Auge that has dozens of social skills like Lying, Speechcraft, etc that probably don't do anything at all.
I remember a session of pen and paper Czech version of D&D when I was young, I was playing an swordsman with a special skill "riposte" I invested all my points into, it was supposed to "turn the sword-based attack of a humanoid opponent against the attacker", I spent all my starting money on a fancy dueling sword, and guess what - we haven't met a single humanoid opponent that would make a "sword-based attack" against me. I desperately wanted to test the skill, I even started to shout "ten gold coins to anyone brave enough to lunge against me with a blade of his choice" at a marketplace, and nothing.
Our quest led us to the swamps where we spent days running from giant alligators nobody was able to beat, and my first and only true combat was against some swamp ogre who broke both my legs with a club on his first attack (and No, "riposte" is not eligible here, the DM kept repeating), the next night someone stole my sword, depriving me of future riposte glory, and when we met a stranger on the swamp bridge, I bought his sword, and it turned out it was cursed and I lost control over my character who turned into some death knight of sorts.
Anti-climatic.

I didn't expect that to take quite as long as it is. This makes me quite nervous about how long Pid and Edna & Harvey will take; they were quite fast in round 2, so they probably haven't had their number of copies scaled down like Alan Wake will likely have, and I don't see them selling all that quickly...
I'm getting way too tired, so I'm going to go to bed now, and I'll post a summary when I wake up again. We'll see if the sale is still running by then.
I'm not 100% sure if my script will catch the end of the sale properly - it should, but I can't be sure until it happens. If the sale ends before I get back, could someone try to note the time when it ends? Thanks.

Stilton: Ah, but you didn't experience the Keaning, my friend. That was truly hellish 100 copies in what felt like three days - it hit the UK late as I recall, that period of night when time somehow elongates..... Brrrr, I shudder to think about it.
omegaunit: Nope, no I didn't, I imagine I'll never know the true horror. lol, after all, isn't the main source of horror the fact that no one knows when Keane will appear next? Sneaking in like a ninja, Keane is most powerful when everyone is not paying attention at first, right?
Sort of like the Spanish Inquisition...
