kmolloy: Finally! I've been listening to the Ovaltine programs and been lost for so long. The invisibility cloak/moon shoes combination is a poor substitute for an actual ring.

IAmSinistar: Excellent! Today's secret code is:

OHL ZBER TBT TNZRF

Use the Rot13 setting on your ring, Junior G-Man!
That took precious time from my day to figure out how to decode that. But it was utterly worthwhile and the code is live.

Grargar: Masochists don't ever regret the pain.

mc_leod: You crazy guys - they must add some strange forbidden substances in your water
Nah, just plain old fluoride.
avatar
richmondody: And how is it fun exactly? What makes this better than something their old sales format where it would last for several days or the other format that GOG used where games were available for 1-3 hours and you could vote to increase or decrease the time?
avatar
CarrionCrow: The speed of games departing imparts a feeling of increased satisfaction, like a race you managed to win in order to obtain something you wanted. The hugely decreased prices increase the ability of people to purchase things not only for themselves, but for each other.
Take someone who has to work/go to school/whatever. They try to stay up for a certain game, but they can't. They start to feel down over that. But then, someone they don't even know steps in and gets it for them. Not only does it make the recipient feel better in feeling that someone cares for them and their situation enough to look out for them and spend money on them, the giver feels good in being able to do something good for another person.
Even with the slow-moving games, it makes for an environment that fosters communal bonding, even if it's something as silly as a bunch of people going in unison, "Dear gods, will this game EVER go away!?!?!" Also, it provides another opportunity for people to feel good about themselves via the act of doing something for others. Watch the people who take one for the team as it were, buying slow movers in an effort to make the process along for everyone.
That's not fun for me though. I wanted to buy a lot of games on this sale but I wasn't able to because I was at work, asleep or like what happened awhile ago, on my way home and it was really frustrating. While it's great the community steps up for the other members here, it doesn't sit well with me that I have to ask someone to buy the games that I want for me because the format of the sale prevents me from getting the game myself. However. you make a fair point on that it's the community that makes this event fun. With that being said though, I would still argue that the sales format itself is bad.

Momo1991: LOL - that's just part of the fun!

Tarnicus: I'm about to head to sleep finally but thought I'd offer this suggestion Momo both here and to put in the MAHAYO thread...

Enjoying the GOG community? Loving the generous atmosphere and want to give back?

Let's say you offer something publicly and get a reply from someone and are curious as to their participation in the community? Here's the easy way to see most of it:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general?search=Tarnicus

Input their user name there and if all you see is someone who asks or accepts gifts and gives NOTHING...well you've got your answer about their character.
Excellent point! ~scurries off to do just that~
Once again; what an amazing group of people we have here!
It takes just 1 person to give away something and instead of 10 pages of begging you get multiple users following suit and sharing codes: pure awesomesauce!

BTW: will these kingdoms stay put long enough for me to go out for a few minutes?
I mean it does take a while to move an entire kingdom and there are still over a thousand kingdoms left to move.
I need to reboot...save me a seat :)

Go ahead. I estimate about half an hour to move the remaining kingdoms.

Krostas: As long as he hasn't got multiple accounts, it sure as hell wasn't Momo. ;-)

Edit: You're welcome! :-)
