IAmSinistar: A wise move. Though I already have all of GOG's D&D titles, it's always a successful sale. Still hoping they get the SSI Gold Box games...
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Remind me again, who's got the rights these days?
SSI? Isn't that Ubisoft?

DarkestVeil: Seeing as sleep is clearly overrated, surely eating is too right?

I just realised I'm spending my meagre remaining funds on multiple copies of games I already own.

*sings* It's not money for nothing, might get Keane for free. (sorry, just had too :D)

sedricm: Wow. DarkestVeil, you totally rock. :D And not sarcastically, either; I am really happy that you decided to break through the lurking barrier to be an active part of the conversation here...
With your sincerity, good cheer, and now, even with a combination Dire Straits reference/Keane pun I can resist no longer...
You have encouraged me to "come out of the woodwork" myself!

I almost did so yesterday, (to note how amused I was by someone posting a link to a German comedy movie as a response to Stilton asking everyone to skate/cruise across the Atlantic) but had to pry my poor dried-up eyeballs away from the laptop screen and go to work...
Then when I came back, I just gave up and went back to lurking, b/c the thing I was going to reply to was buried in some hundred pages back, no doubt, after many hours and goggers from multiple time zones.

But then! Then I saw your post, and wanted nothing more than to likewise express my gratitude and admiration for gog as a site, the community for coming up with something so profoundly entertaining as the Keaning, and for you, b/c you said so eloquently what I was wanting to say, (perhaps even better than I might've said it, even?)
However then I began to second-guess myself, "well, I don't want to just repeat everything, no one wants to just read the same cheesy platitudes right after someone else has posted them; I'll just post something short to give kudos...uh, wait, apparently someone has already done that too. Urgh, and I've taken so long trying to figure out what to say that there's now already a few new full pages of commentary!
"Aaaand, everyone has already replied, it seems the conversation has moved on, <sigh> oh well."

SO! Now I must thank you for something ELSE, which is giving me another reason to insert myself into the conversation...! (even though the comment I'm quoting is, itself, probably a few pages back by now, too...sigh sigh.) Well! Not going to let that stop me this time.

(And in case anyone actually read all the way through this without going into tl;dr mode, sorry for being so long-winded and awkward! O_o )
+Rep for starting writting here
some days ago I was also just reader of this fine community and now i got quoted from you

sometimes the thread is in fast forward mode
especially fo a non native speaker but even the gurus get ninja'd ;-)

Gamer4Fire: Keeping the supply of any commodity low helps to increase the price. Just look at a supply and demand chart.
avatar
Cardian: True, but that would mean that would have to re-release the games from time to time (like the DVDs) which they don't.
It could be that they did a cost benefit analysis and found that the costs to make the games available on a modern system outweigh the money they could make from a re-release.
avatar
skimmie: No, it wouldn't...that would become WAY too expensive :)
Not really, they usually go around $25.

Me too!

Nope, they actually go for a little over $21.

imskeleton: Free Hitman 2:
Awesome, thanks.

I've been totally skunked on the GoG freebies, I've clicked at least 120+ games but nothing. So it's nice to come up with something for once. :)

HypersomniacLive: Not really, they usually go around $25.
True, I just meant that I would then have ot buy them all and, combined with any other nice games, it would become too expensive for ME :)
avatar
Cardian: Must be great to just say "Nah, we don't want all that money that you will absolutely throw at us for no effort on our side at all."
avatar
Dumann: Yeah, I'm sure most of those games (Monkey Island, Grim Fandago, etc) would be instant bestsellers on GoG.
Probably Disney would charge us 50 bucks or more for any of these games.
And besides I don't think they believe in DRM free.
avatar
DarkestVeil: I believe it's just a digital rights issue.
With everything lucas now at disney I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Then again I never thought System Shock 2 would appear as well and if there is 1 game to hold out hope for it's Grim Fandango.

Momo1991: You can always vote and hope...

Done and done.
Hadn't really really paid much attention to the site wishlist, but absolutely, even if I could only vote for ONE game to see on gog, indeed, that would be it (since star control/wing commander/master of orion are already here!)

Aren't we all game zombies? hehe
