The first title we welcome on GOG.COM today is KnightShift, a real-time strategy set in the medieval world mixed with fantasy elements. At the time of its release in 2003, the game’s joyful gameplay and fairytale-like graphics captivated adult and young gamers alike.

KnightShift introduced to the gamers elements from Eastern Europe’s early medieval culture and myths. That’s why during the game we witness pagan magic and ritual sites, tamed bears accompanying warriors, and most importantly - cow’s milk as the main currency. KnightShift is available on GOG.COM with a 50% discount until 10th April, 1 PM UTC.

The second classic game, Leo the Lion's Puzzles, focuses on puzzles for the whole family to enjoy. The game is a perfect choice for all those who struggle to keep the children’s busy mind occupied during trying times we face now.

Thanks to it they can team up with kids and join the brave lion Leo as he solves countless puzzles in different sceneries - from the jungle forests to the frozen landscapes of the North Pole. Each puzzle comes with plenty of items and combinations to explore, so we can be sure that our fun adventures with Leo the Lion's Puzzles won’t end too early.

Both KnightShift and Leo the Lion's Puzzles await your discovery. So, gather the warriors, drink milk, and prepare yourself for head-scratching puzzles that will make this weekend full of joy and adventure.

Mr.Mumbles: Another aside: That also reminds of me a great series of late budget releases of bigger games via special magazine editions such as Lucas Arts adventures, Might & Magic 3-5, censored/family-friendly ;) version of Knights of Xentar, and a bunch of others for something like ~10DM each. Can't think of the name anymore, and Google is not being helpful. =/
The magazine you are talking about was called Bestseller Games. There also was a spin-off called Bestseller Games Gold.

Edit: And Bestseller Games Collection which had the mentionened Knights of Xentar in issue 8.

Maxvorstadt: Ah, interesting. Why didn`t I see you in the german forum? Might be a good thing to refresh your german language skills. :-)

Mr.Mumbles: "Refresh" would put it mildly. In the intervening 2+ decades my German has become so rusty it's embarrassing. I can still understand most just fine, but writing and speaking it now is an entirely different matter.
Maybe there are some German channels on a satellite where you live?

In Europe, I installed a 85 cm satellite dish + receiver + mast + double-headed LNB to receive both Astra and Hotbird clusters: 3 hours to install and tune everything easily and only 125 EUR.

Dozens of free German channels in both SD and HD (1080p) resolutions, all regional (Länder + some cities) and national public channels, all major private channels (but seriously ads are terrible, like 5 times during a movie), dozens of radios.

Nice find. Thanks for that.

Man, that brings back memories. :) I don't think I ever was as excited about low budget re-releases until I first discovered GOG...

zeffyr: Definitely more Eastern than Central tbh.

topolla: Definitely think again Geographical midpoint of Europe
Should've added 'mentally', my bad :)

On the other hand, how come Kajko i Kokosz isn't mentioned in English news post? I know it's Polish language only, but still, that's rare not to mention it at all. It's included in the Polish news post though.
Nice release. The combination of RTS and RPG in KnightShift sounds interesting. How does it compare to Spellforce?

Edit: Looks like it has separate RTS and RPG campaigns, not a combination of RTS and RPG elements. So it seems to be completely different to Spellforce.

Has anyone already tried it on Wine?

It is sad If you think that it is a common issue, but don't give up. You will be fine.

It has happened few times before with other languages. I was finding news and promotions exclusively for Germans or english speakers. I've never checked other languages sections.

Not yet, but there's a Mac version on Steam, except it's not actually the Mac version but uses Wine, so it must run well enough that way to sell officially. (There was a real Mac version from way back when, but it was a Virtual Programming port, and in typical VP style broke after an OS update or two.)
I see several mention that one of the game (Polanie ) included as a bonus does not have english.
i must say im a bit suprised there arent even an fan translation in english somwhwere on the internet considering its a fairly old
game 1996 unless the game was so obscure that only a few bougth it at the time.

Edit : German edition, titled Victory and based on floppy disk release, goes beyond the obvious translation/dubbing changes and introduces a plot twist: the campaign map has changed from Polish to German territory in the background, so we no longer unite Slavic tribes (intro animation is absent as well).

Czech edition is based on updated Polish CD-ROM re-release.

I still remember that the biggest Polish game magazine gave KnightShift a 9/10 saying several times in the review how much better than Warcraft 3 it is. No, I'm not making this up :-P.
It's good to have a chance to finally play it.
By the way, is there any chance to finally see more games from TopWare Interactive that are already available on Steam but still not available on GOG (Iron Sky: Invasion, The I Of The Dragon, Vendetta - Curse Of Raven's Cry)?

Alexim: What will happen to Polanie once the promotion is over?
That is what i am thinking too. Based on the complete radio silence from GOG about this topic, it probably has something to do with licencing. At least that is what my gut tells me. Maybe they managed to make a time limited “if you want to sell game x you need to also sell game y” deal and after that it gets pulled. Or maybe it will just turn into a store item on its own for 5.99 ;). Cheers

EDIT: Btw, does anyone remember when Softporn Adventures was part of the LSL games? Pretty much the same thing happend to it, although it lasted a while longer.

Maybe after June GOG will start selling Polanie instead of giving it away for free?

BTW, is Polanie a separate entry in the library or it's just an installer in the bonus section? Unfortunately, right now I can't buy the game to check it myself.

It's an installer in Extras only.

I hope so too, at least I of the Dragon. I'll throw in X-Blades there too, though it does only have a 60% approval on Steam
