And yes, I'm posting here because game forums don't seem to get much traffic (almost two months since the last Hacknet post).

Anyway, I get that a lot of this game is exploring and figuring things out, but personally I think it goes a little overboard sometimes.

I'm not very far into the game, but I find myself with no idea what to do.

I'm at the part where you try to join Entropy. I run a shell, overload and bypass the proxy, and... that's it. Maybe it's a brain fart and I'm missing something obvious, but all I keep thinking is "Now what? What am I supposed to be doing or looking for?"

If anyone could give me a hint I would appreciate it. You don't have to be explicit, maybe just a hint to try to jar my brain out of its stuck state. (I'll still mark this as "solvable" though so somebody can get the points or whatever).

Weren't you suppose to upload, or download, or rename a file on the server?

Try looking over the files, text files specifically, or if you got an email look over what the instructions were.

The mail from Bit only says "As for getting into Entropy, you'll need to bypass a proxy server - a few shells... should be able to overload it." But there's no indication of anything you need to do once you're in. All he says is that they're accepting new members.

I run a shell, overload the proxy, and have access to Login and Probe System; insufficient privileges to get into anything else. I know I probably have to get into the rest somehow but damn, I'm just drawing a blank.

Sometimes the purpose with hacking into another computer is to get a new tool, which you'd download from the /bin directory.

It's early on? I could replay early on i suppose and then give you exact steps...

Yeah, it's like the fifth email, I think. You do a few tasks for Bit and then he tells you to try to join Entropy. If there's anything good in /bin, I haven't gotten into it yet. Don't have admin access on the test system yet. I guess that's my main sticking point.

1 shell was enough with overloading, it was just slow. 3-4 makes for fast proxy overloading. You can't use PortHack until the entire bar of the Proxy bar is empty.

By 'shell', keep in mind you type that command when logged on other computers and they will light up on your map as Yellow, and on the left you'll have the shell with 3-4 commands. Overload, Trap, Close, Cancel, etc.
