Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

trebor8273: not going to happen, why would they but something so new in a sale, very stupid from a business standpoint
50% would be fair enough
and considering what i read about the quality of the port...
Tried to buy Baldurs Gate, but payment was declined . Maybe a second 2 late :-(
So while we wait, what did everyone get from the sale?

Tomb raider 1-3
BG1+2
Neverwinter 2

just waiting for lords of midnight myself and that will be everything I wanted.

cojack426: This sale has turned into trying to get all the Infinity Engine games for me. Picked up Icewind Dale and Original Baldur's Gate. Just need Icewind Dale II to complete my collection on GOG! This is downright addictive.

CorranHorn: Guess you already own P:T then=).
Oh yes I do.

drennan: I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the heroes who purchased Omerta. Your sacrifice will always be remembered.
Well, I wouldn't say always, but at least long enough :p

Just keep in mind that GOG traditionally has a really amazing Christmas sale, so you can always wait to pick up Baldur's Gate then.
i got nwn diamond, deus ex and ultima 7
Those ratings/comments on Jack Keane 2 are indeed hilarious :p

But honestly, they need to sweep the ratings from that game that were posted during this sale. Otherwise people might be misled to throw their money away later.
There is an old legend, that if you gift me a Geneforge code, Omerta goes away.
excuse my ignorance (new), but can games be traded between members?
Come on people! Omerta is the most impressive gangster game you will ever play: It takes your money and gives nothing in return apart from some mental scarring and physical pain. Not kidding here, it's really that good.

StarBoundZA: If you joined GoG for free games then there is something wrong with you. I joined GoG for the DRM free stuff, so that when and if Steam fails I can still play a handful of great games. So far I got a few freebies, nothing from this sale, but honestly I couldn't care less. Atleast they trying something new, something different. I don't think it will be repeated in future seasonal sales but if they choose to do something like this now and then it is really awesome.
I disagree. Free games are provided as an incentive to attract people to a site they might not have even known ever existed otherwise. GOG.com offered Tex Murphy 1&2 in 2009 or so as a free game and a friend sent me a link to it in an email. Having enjoyed Killing Moon I clicked on it and signed up and took the free game without knowing what GOG was and didn't bother to look much at the site beside that. I did however sign up for their newsletter to see what they had to say.

I get lots of email and so I didn't always pay attention to their newsletters, but I would read the occasional one and saw some interesting gaming deals. Now, I had not ever purchased games online through digital distribution before although I wasn't opposed to it either. I wasn't really looking for more games at the time though either due to an ancient computer with low resources.

Anyhow, time went on and GOG eventually had another freebie promo, I forget what it was but I saw that and grabbed it too. This time around I looked over the site a bit more and spotted a number of other game freebies and grabbed them too. This is exactly what attracted me to the GOG website - some free games that might be worth checking out. This is not "abnormal", but is rather probably more normal of people than not doing it. This is why companies offer free stuff in the first place - to attract customers who like to get free stuff.

Anyhow, I started to watch GOG.com more closely in 2012, visiting the site from time to time and I ended up actually reading their "about us" stuff, info on DRM-free and what they're all about. I didn't realize all of these things before and when I read about it in detail I became more excited about GOG and what they were doing. I vowed to become a paying customer sometime in the near future and sometime around October 2012 I ended up making my first purchase of a handful of games. I was very pleased with my purchase and with GOG's way of handling the transaction, their service and support and realized that I would be doing this again many times in the future.

Since then, I have accumulated 210 games out of their catalogue, mostly purchased outright but with a small number of freebies from GOG, and the occasional game won in a giveaway or the Ninja thread. I've also bought several of the promos as gifts for friends and some other gifts as well. I've been very excited about GOG and have told just about everyone about it and managed to convince at least 5 to 10 friends to join the site as well, and at least 3 of those people have bought a number of games too.

I imagine many people have a similar story of how they were attracted to GOG.com initially due to a free game promo, to later become a full blown paying customer gobbling up games left and right. To characterize the desire to get something for free initially as not being "normal" is out of touch with how the whole world works really. You can't get much more normal than being interested in getting something for free being offered in a promo to draw customers.

I'm just saying...
:)
