Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Once
Still waiting on Evoland and populous.
$3 for Torchlight, that's 3 dollars more than some of us paid around here ;) But even at $5 or 10 it's worth it, such a good game.
I wish GOG had more of those "free game for a day" things.

trebor8273: One thing this sale has proved there are a lot of greedy, whining f***ers out there who only want stuff for free and have not actually bought one thing from this sale.
...and that there's plenty of people miserable enough to repeatedly post complaints about the complaints. I +1ed the first time but repeatedly chiming in so cynically against complainers isn't charming either.

I actually really like the idea that in the next similar sale, GOG would have a lottery-type of sale for freebies. One minute clicking time and winner is drawn.

Senteria: Funny fact is that I bought Shelter and then came a freebie and I was in time. Hmmm maybe GOG is putting people in favour who bought the previous game. Or by saying this I am just a ninja marketing staff member of GOG without knowing it.
I bought two games in this promo, and what you say doesn't ring likely, to me.

They get better exclusives though.

Fuma: Please do not make sales like this ever again. I like free games and cheap games like everyone else, but all this timer and limited amount sale does is make normal customers angry. How am I to buy something that ends in 5 minutes? Just opening my banking tab and verifying all the payments takes more (no, f you paypal, no f you visa) time.

And free games? That's a joke for bot users that autoclick every second two hundred times spamming and no normal person has a chance in hell to get 1 of 24 free games.

It's a cheap move and I will not take part in this promo even if I could buy a game I want cheaper. I'm not supporting this and don't want to inflate your sales. This is highly annoying and maybe 13 year old impulse buying monkey children find it fun, but not normal people.

brunosiffredi: Agreed 100%. This is dumbest thing I've seen Gog.com do. I love this site, but the free games are just presents for bot users and I've seen more people complaining about not getting the game they wanted than anything else.
A blue from GOG posted yesterday that they examined the server logs and they do not notice any bot-like activity swooping in on freebies. He stated something to the effect that the massive number of people monitoring the sale all hitting the button when a freebie pops up and the low quantity gobbles them up very quickly more or less (paraphrasing). It's either earlier in this thread, or in the log thread.

nijuu: 4 is pretty much 3. Also 4 is more expensive and there doesnt seem much of an upgrade graphics aside
Plus, there are strange DLCs, lack of radio, IIRC, and strange performance issues. Plus Kalypso account, no?

On a side note - Steam is warming up.

DubConqueror: It's hard to find 47 people that don't own Torchlight yet.
Own it twice already

nijuu: Once
Thanks. Here's hoping for a second time then.
avatar
Bolland: I'd get Tropico 4 if I were you. It's much less linear with the side objectives while being very similar otherwise. Too bad GoG doesn't have it yet.
avatar
nijuu: People prefer 3. 4 is mostly just graphical upgrade on 3....
I'd say it's the same game, just with interesting side objectives and a DLC that basically kills all other buildings and makes the game too easy (Modern Times). Not much of a graphics update.
