Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Flam3crow: Cmon guys, if you've ever wanted a sci-fi rpg this is the one for YOU!

also we gotta move the sale along
Wow it was faster then I could order it! It looked promising.
When this sale started a lot of people bummed out because they were at work and GOG obviously didn't disclose ALL the information about the sale at the time. They said they had a limited number of games to sell and seem to keep selling them which seems to make some question their credibility or something BUT look at it this way.
Lets say they have 5000 of a certain game they plan to sell so to make it FAIR to everyone they spread that 5000 out over 24 hours at varying price discounts including a small number for free. Everybody gets a chance at every game at some level of deep discount. They probably also had to Promise the Indie developers a certain number of Sales for their games too so they would go along with the nature of the sale including Free copies. I think GOG did a pretty Good Job at putting on this actually pretty Cool and entertaining Sale and made it Fair for all of it's users.

ryanyth: wow blackwell bundle. Talk about being obscure.
Lets hope its not another Jack Keane 2.
Being $2.99 pretty much prevents a game from being Keaned. The price is low enough for people somewhat interested to take a chance on it.

CorranHorn: Damn addictive game, played the demo a lot, damn hard too.

AttObl: Like most roguelikes~ Hopefully, that will keep me occupied like Dredmor.
I´ve played a lot of games but term is something I first learnt of when TB talked about a game that was rogue like. The Pit feels like Fallout =).

bell02: this freebie stuff is absolutly dump.. sorry... should be limited, two free games for any acc.
+1
Yeah, might want to come up with a sale concept that does not encourage click-bot use.

Seriously what's the point of these freebies if:

A. 80% of the time the stock is exhausted before the title of the game even has a chance to load in.

B. When you do manage to beat the auto click scripts your servers basically are choked by the mass of clicks that you get a lovely try again' message.

My suggestion, put a five second delay between change or something, or randomize the name and position of the button element to throw the click bots off.
Got Blackwell Bundle, hope aren't hard games

Fictionvision: Winner!

lugum: Wow i actually managed to get swords of the stars.
Well done :o
I was on the fence for the Blackwell Series. This time I grabbed it, hard to pass on such a great deal.
avatar
Fezred: The Blackwell series is very enjoyable and funny. Nice voice acting too and they have an entertaining set of extras and developer commentary.
Yup, I like Joey VO pretty much. Probably more so that that of Garrus.
The return of Jack Keane is imminent these are the exact games that were on sale last night before he...nooo I can't take these thoughts and visions!! aghghg

ManiacSolution: This. Next time you do this GoG please put a limit on freebies on each account. That way people will actually choose the freebies they want and not click just "Cause it's free, who cares if I even like the game or not?"
Or, better yet, DONT DO FREEBIES. The constant whining is getting annoying.
avatar
Fezred: Shame that Septerra Core (And some of these other old games) never sold so fast and well originally! Might have seen more sequels or more of those types released in the genre. It's good that this place gives them a sort of second chance. I wonder if publishers or the money backers would take note of these things selling?
Who's to say this isn't a form of market research on GOG's part?

"How fast can these things sell? Jack Keane 2?" *Scratches out name.*

gscotti: It's not hard - it's impossible unless you run a script. This is pure reward for the crooks/cheaters, at this point.
avatar
Artificer: I know an AWFUL lot of people not using a script or a bot who would disagree with you, but I suppose ACTUAL EVIDENCE THAT YOU'RE WRONG isn't going to have any impact on your CONSTANT CHILDISH WHINING, now is it?
Doesn't change the fact that the majority of people who get the free games are running scripts, leaving us common mortals with a 1% chance of being fast enough to click.
