Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

tapeworm00: Missing the forest for the trees.

I can't believe it is the freebies, of all things, what makes people say this sale (sale, as in exchange of money for a cheapened commodity) is terrible.
I agree, the freebies are just a blip on the promo and frankly, shouldn't be expected anyways.

It's the actual promo that is terrible.

I stopped playing an online game in the past, because it required too much constant supervision.

You think I want that from my game distributor?
On a side note, I wonder how many of the people complaining that they can't get a free game only came here in the first place because they saw "free games" in their email?

I wonder how many of them are whining about how they can't get a game when they haven't even been willing to spend some money?

I've blown in the neighbourhood of 30 bucks tonight and you sure don't hear me whining when I miss out on getting a $2 game for free.
I was disappointed at the ridiculous rate the freebies vanished too, many not even showing up at all on people's PCs or instant server crash if they did get a blink of an eye at them, but I came for the sale and not because I had heard of any freebies on the go and I have taken advantage of those sales. And nothing, nothing will be worse or have a bigger negative impact on the sale than Jack Keane 2.

Offers like BG2 for two bucks is fantastic and I've snapped up such deals in unhealthy amounts!

ryanyth: Personally i thought they should have scrapped the mad rush for freebies,
and award freebies to those who have bought at least 5 games in the sale,
and the ability to CHOOSE which freebie you want.
good idea

If you don't like it, you don't need to participate, you can go sleep or something.
At this point, I'm hoping for another Keane. Then I could get some sleep - been up for about 24hrs total now. -_-
Has Rayman Origins already been featured twice?

Come on Don't Starve...

hedwards: Pretty much, I'm out of here. At this point, I'm annoyed enough that I'm probably not even going to log in again until the end of the promo. I might have bought something, but seeing the freebies come and go so quickly that I barely see them, has really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Magnitus: If this sale is ever repeated, I will program my own client-side bot with a basic heuristic for games that I want and a spending cap.

I might even put it on GitHub for others to do the same.

I find it an extremely manipulative promo.
It's a skinner box for sure. More manipulative than steam sales even - and certainly more of a time waste.

Which I've had some "fun" participating in. I'd prefer it if they changed the formula to be less linear though.

Rayman was free and then on sale, so kind of, but not.

If there's a store near you I recommend you run and get some, RotT is taking a while.
I don't give a flying rat's behind about freebies, but as a sale this horse poop does not respect my time. Having to sit here and stare at a slowly diminishing bar may be fun for some, but I think it's a waste of my time. Especially since I was following the reddit list, saw two games I wanted to pick up (the second one would still have taken at least half an hour to show up) and now the damn sale skipped both of them.

Welp, guess gog doesn't need any more of my money today.

bradelli: I find it all quite amusing. I now have 5 of the free games (got 3 last night and 2 today). And now people are saying people like me are "bots". No. We just clicked the button and got the game.
We have too many sentient ninja bots here. Who let Skynet out?
What are you folks still gunning for?
Based on this reddit list:
www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/1qjevg/gog_fall_insomnia_megathread_limited_quantity

I'm still aiming for:
Icewind Dale Complete
Theme Hospital
Blood (One Unit Whole Blood)
Wing Commander 4
Alpha Centauri
Myst: Masterpiece Ed
Thunderscape
Master of Orion 1+2
Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Ed
Ultima 7 The Complete Ed

Man i don't even want freebies, i wanna BUY them~
