Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

hedwards: That's why this was such a horrible idea. There's no limits on the freebies, and there's an inherent advantage to people living closer to Poland.
What does Poland have to do with it? GOG uses a CDN (Content Delivery Network) and its servers (multiple) are located worldwide as part of the akamai server net. So Poland isn't necessarily the closest country.

Artificer: Welcome to the modern world, where people will even complain about free stuff.

Back in MY day we had to carve our games ourselves, out of a piece of wood! And we didn't even get a knife, we had to chip it out with a rock! And not a sharp rock either! I bludgeoned the original Wing Commander out of a chunk of oak with a big old hunk of talc and I was lucky to get a big hunk!

Khalaq: What, you mean you guys had wood? We had to use granite for our games. And as for a hunk of talc, try teeth! I'll tell you what, you didn't have too many teeth left to eat with after finishing off a AAA game.
Pffft.

Rocks?

TEETH?!

We would have considered ourselves LUCKY to have TEETH to carve our games with.

And when I say rock, I mean lava! Back in MY day the surface hadn't cooled enough for ROCKS! We had to MAKE our rocks by picking up the lava and blowing it out! Then while it was still malleable we shaped our games by bashing it with our foreheads!

hedwards: I think the next freebie should be something that nobody wants, just to sit there in judgement on all the cheaters.
We all know people (including me!) would even grab Jack Keane: Champions of Mordor for free just for the hell of it being free! :)

Nah, it won't. I started clicking blindly at one point cause I wanted to see whether I could get something for free. Well, ended up with Master of Magic. Didn't want it but meh xP Pretty sure whatever has the word free next to it will disappear, even if by chance :P

The order goes out from Poland as to when to release the next game. Otherwise there'd be no saying as to where the games would pop up first. Otherwise I'd expect folks in Australia and the US would at some point get an advantage. Which doesn't appear to be the case.
Eador: Masters of the Stalled Sale.

Also as a side note, I'm one of those annoying people that say GOG is fine bringing more indies and newer games here, yet during this sale everything I've bought so far has been classics :P
anyway this hacking around really ruins the promo

Exact same thing happened to me, same game and everything.

trebor8273: what gog need to do if they have a sale like this next time only people who buy something can try to get free games, a lot of the moaners seems like they have not bought a single thing.
That would be illegal here in Quebec. You can't have a contest where you need to purchase something to enter. Except for the State lottery, video pokers and casino of course.

Foreheads, he says! FOREHEADS! Why, in my day we had to move our cell membrane to get ANYTHING done! We used to make games by squishing around into bacteria and that was already hard enough as it was!
Anyone have an extra of either of these for trade or sale?
Anvil of Dawn $1.49
King of Dragon Pass $1.49

please pm me if you have these for trade/sale, thanks.

I can buy gog.com games to trade for them.
