Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

nijuu: All the freebies are a bit of a crapshoot. Its a bonus for this promo :).If you win great. If you dont, well there is always next time
It's not really a crapshoot, apparently people are winning multiple games. Which just rubs salt in the wound. I'll be giving up again if the next freebie goes by without me snagging one.
Come on Deus Ex and Heros of M&M3, where are you?
Don't hide from me ¬¬
Darn well Eador killed my chances for Don't Starve.Funny have eador wishlisted too, nice price, yet sadly low funds. Ah well good luck to those left trying to get Don't Starve, there is hope yet im sure ^_^

Okay have at least 10 min to get to work and be super grumpy for not sleeping any cause of this wonderful hypnotic sale keeping me up ^_^
Damn sleep, how did I miss all that? xP

Ungunbu: yeah but keep in mind that many people doesn't really mean it - take it easy

trebor8273: sorry but some of them do, every other posts is a moan from some people about how crap the sale is and that they did not get a free game. if it upsets them so much go someplace else!
Welcome to the modern world, where people will even complain about free stuff.

Back in MY day we had to carve our games ourselves, out of a piece of wood! And we didn't even get a knife, we had to chip it out with a rock! And not a sharp rock either! I bludgeoned the original Wing Commander out of a chunk of oak with a big old hunk of talc and I was lucky to get a big hunk!

Tell us step by step how to...so we can prevent it, or something.

Souldrifter: I missed out about 4 times yesterday on freebies, but for some reason, I'm not angry. I don't understand why some people are. It's not like anyone is taking anything away from you. Sure, it'd be nice to get a free game, but if you don't, you won't die and life goes on. Disappointing to be sure, but with the way some folks are flailing... it makes me kind of sad.

If you don't get it now, you may get it in the future. If it's too expensive to buy now, wait a while. It will become super affordable at some point in time. As an example, I love the Sims. I never pay full price for that stuff on Steam. I always wait for a super huge sale. I don't have to have the latest and greatest right now. If it's a good game, it'll still be a good game six months, a year, whenever... down the road.

These are just games, people. No one is saying you can't be disappointed, but the people posting in other threads about how this is horrible and stressful etc should go to a news site and look at what's happening in the Philippines right now and get some perspective.
Agreed. GOG's once again gone out of their way to give back, and most of the time these deals for a small publisher can only do harm. This generation of gaming has elevated the level customer's take for granted.

Take a day off and sleep. Going without sleep is bad for your brain.

That's why this was such a horrible idea. There's no limits on the freebies, and there's an inherent advantage to people living closer to Poland.

I like that they're being creative, but it just plain sucks that they didn't account for the global nature of the promos and set some limits on how many freebies people could take.
