Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Faithful: Well, I know I am in the minority, but I have started this game several times and I keep stopping as it just does not hold my interest. The vast majority love it, so, it depends on your taste, and it is likely you enjoy it, like so many others do.
I know that feeling, mate - kinda have similar relations with mass effekt 3.:D

Ungunbu: this is absolutely true
if you sum the two factors the chances of getting a free game are very close to zero and probably that's the way gog wanted it to be
avatar
Artificer: Um, yes, that's the way they wanted it, that's why they limited the number of copies to 10-40 for the free games.

I'm really trying to be nice about this, but you're kind of being an ass here about something that really doesn't matter.
lol, it's just to let the time pass u know, i didn't mean to be an ass
Please do not make sales like this ever again. I like free games and cheap games like everyone else, but all this timer and limited amount sale does is make normal customers angry. How am I to buy something that ends in 5 minutes? Just opening my banking tab and verifying all the payments takes more (no, f you paypal, no f you visa) time.

And free games? That's a joke for bot users that autoclick every second two hundred times spamming and no normal person has a chance in hell to get 1 of 24 free games.

It's a cheap move and I will not take part in this promo even if I could buy a game I want cheaper. I'm not supporting this and don't want to inflate your sales. This is highly annoying and maybe 13 year old impulse buying monkey children find it fun, but not normal people.
The Real Texas has one of the best soundtracks of any game I played ever.
Purchased NWN 2 and the king of dragon pass while missing out on Jade Empire. I hope we see jade empire have another bout and hopefully when I am around.
Anyone know if Jack Keane 2 is coming on sale?

I missed it earlier, the 5 hours it was on sale just wasn't long enough.

Madmurdock297: Has Planescape Torment or Icewind Dale been on since Jack Keane last night? They're pretty much the only ones I'm waiting on.

And has anyone played "I have no mouth, but I must scream"? Sounds interesting, but Im not sold on it yet.
Nope and nope - no D&D since Keano was finally defeated. "I have no mouth, but I must scream" is a blast if you're a fan of classic adventure games. What makes it rare is the mature sci-fi based story, which is not too common a game setting these days.

Agreed 100%. This is dumbest thing I've seen Gog.com do. I love this site, but the free games are just presents for bot users and I've seen more people complaining about not getting the game they wanted than anything else.

Pretty sure they'll pull a Larry on this eventually so that global demand is satisfied.

No worries. I'm probably a little lacking in my normal patience after being up all night.

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way but the vast majority of people posting on this thread have been loving the sale, in spite of its issues so please leave the insults aside. Most of the people enjoying the sale are, in fact, "normal people" and not "13 year old impulse buying monkey children" as you suggest. I will avoid making any comparisons between your petulant tone and your own age but feel free to draw your own conclusions.

Cheers. Guess I'm sitting here reading Cyanide and Happiness until they come along then. -sigh-

I love classic adventure games. I read about I have no mouth and the concept sounds intriguing. Might have to get a hold of the book. Will grab the game as well if it appears in the offer again.

Thanks for the reply.
Um....I've gotten everything I wanted so far. The only things I missed were items I didn't get because I didn't know about the sale at the time.

I think it would be more fair if they just randomly shot gift codes to people who are hanging around the sale thread:)
It's been over 12 hours since I was last here. Are they still putting out free games and are they still vanishing in mere seconds?
