Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

CoolMajkl: Is System Shock 2 really that good?
Yep, it is, it has a few rough edges but it is really one of the best dungeon crawlers I played.

I had to borrow it from a friend to play it because already a year after the release it was nearly impossible to find at a human price, it had next to no publicity when it came out so it didn't sell and due to the publisher failing had no budget releases for years.

CorranHorn: No, I´ve seen this happen to games on sale as well, this happens due to high traffic caused by a page reloading.

Ungunbu: That's not the point. I could do it myself if i wanted.
My point is, there are a lot of people just waiting for the Free games, when they see the word Free they press the button and this is overloading the servers (just like a DDoS attack). I´m not saying that there could be bots/scripts running just that I don´t think this is the case for the majority who got the Free games.

Khaleesia87: I have a 100mbps connection and I stared at the opening page for hours and couldnt even see some free games coming! they were gone in...like....a quarter of a second! The few ones that I could actually see went away so fast that I couldnt even read the full name propely.
Sometimes I was able to see, and even click on button, but in 4 cases I got "offer has ended" (or something like that) and in couple more cases I got "ovewhelmed by our service popularity".
*ranting on* Simcity and Diablo3 launches never taught anyone! *ranting off*:D

this is absolutely true
if you sum the two factors the chances of getting a free game are very close to zero and probably that's the way gog wanted it to be

Considering what it is, I think it's moving pretty fast. I thought we could have us another Jack Keaning for a few hours when I first saw the counter...

Yeah, but anybody who has either the skills to do this or the money to purchase it isn't going to waste either on cheating someone out of a $3 game, right?

Even if they were, my advice would be to get over it, your odds are extremely poor anyway.

But they're not.
It seems like a great sale but I am VERY unlucky. I come home from work and after an hour or so I go on this site, and when I find out about this sale it was Jack Keane 2. I knew it was gonna take a while so I just went to sleep. I woke up and it's Leisure Suit Larry which doesn't interest me, and now Real Texas. I'm still here for another 80 minutes. I hope that I get at least one game out of this.

enchained: Were there a repeat of Space Colony HD? Missed it the first time
Like I said on reddit... I'm pretty sure it wasn't :)
Not 100% sure tho.

mortalkombat: i envy you for never playing it before obviously....

if you are a true gamer you will love it & sh*t your pants while playing it.

ps: it has MODs improving visuals and graphics
and also increase the screen resolution

atmosphere and music score are epic!!!!
the main villain is regarded as the ultimate game-villain

Um, yes, that's the way they wanted it, that's why they limited the number of copies to 10-40 for the free games.

I'm really trying to be nice about this, but you're kind of being an ass here about something that really doesn't matter.

CoolMajkl: Is System Shock 2 really that good?
Well, I know I am in the minority, but I have started this game several times and I keep stopping as it just does not hold my interest.

The vast majority love it, so, it depends on your taste, but it is likely you will enjoy it, like so many others do.

Has Planescape Torment or Icewind Dale been on since Jack Keane last night? They're pretty much the only ones I'm waiting on.

And has anyone played "I have no mouth, but I must scream"? Sounds interesting, but Im not sold on it yet.

I second this. I played it again recently with the graphics mods and it was a blast. Of course I knew what I was getting into this time, so it wasn't as scary, but it also gave me the chance to really explore the game's mechanics and man, does it stand the test of time.
