Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

tammerwhisk: There are actually people that liked ME3 enough to call it a favorite?
avatar
RudyLis: Apparently there are hell lot of them. There even people who like it so much, so they named it GOTY. or RPGOTY, don't remember. I wonder how many of those aren't working for bEAware, though.
I don't get the other thing - when you fail outside gamedev, you'll get punishment of some sort. When you fail in gamedev, you get away with it simply calling it art and punish people who tell you've failed.

Like George Carlin said: maybe I'm not supposed to understand that.
To be honest, I liked it quite a lot, even for it's shortcomings. Getting the series finished perfectly would have been a godly task if you ask me, and they did fine.

Not GOTY material, but I'm not surprised someone has liked it that much either.

Artificer: I still refuse to play ME3 at all due to the Origin requirement.
Good for you. Follow this path, good sire, and you'll find happiness.
I, however, fell for their lies and deceit, trusted them with my time and money, and installed that hellspawn. I can officially confirn - those were most worthlessly $80 and 25 hours spent.

avatar
Artificer: That being said, I like new RPGs, classic RPGs and pen-and-paper RPGs. ;)
Just for the note, I prefer RPG-7, though system requirements are pretty high, user experience gained pretty much pays for everything else.
As for other RPGs, as long as they are not from Edmonton, I guess I can give them chance.

avatar
Artificer: Not always. If you're EA, you get away with it. If you're publishing the third game in a massively successful series that's guaranteed to sell hundreds of thousands of copies, if not millions, on the first day then yeah, you get away with it.
ME3 isn't the only fail. For instance, I barely can stand Supreme Commander 2. Really, Chris, after awesome Supreme Commander 1? What kind of "pond battle" this is? Still better than ME3, though. :)

Artificer: If you're most other companies you take a major loss and often have to close your doors.
Or you sell yourself to EA and they close you.

Artificer: I should add something to my response; as previously stated, I've not played ME3. However, I have several friends who have and whose opinions I highly respect and they tell me that if you ignore the bits that enraged everyone, the other 98% of the game is an excellent game.

I'm inclined to believe them on that and accept that most people on the internet cannot see the forest for the trees.

It wouldn't be the first time I've had to rewrite an ending in my head for my own satisfaction, heh.
You know what I remember about the entire Mass Effect series? Guns that magically turn from infinite ammo to ammo required (and yes, I know they called the ammo heat sinks or whatever but that doesn't matter because you can call it magical fairy farts and it's still ammo if your gun won't shoot without it), having to run laps around the ship like I'm a mentally disabled mallwalker to talk to every jackass in a two mile radius roughly two dozen times, that the final ending made no damn sense at all, and that I spent 135 hours plowing through that trilogy of rank, rank ass. That's it.

Yep, most of the hate seems to come from the vanilla endings, fortunately I played it when che director's cut free dlc was already out.
Come on people you know you want to have some extra copies of Larry lying around... yes you do, yes you do.

It wasn't as bad as people say. It wasn't GOTY worthy, but the ME series is still one of my favourite series, ME 3 included. Up until the last hour or so it was a pretty good game.

I'm with you on this. Watched the GF play through 3 after they put out the extended ending, and although the ending could've been better, the whole game was still a great experience, especially character wise. The Citadel DLC is also a brilliant Homage to the series and a wonderful thing to play.
what is ME3 ?

Yeah, I picked that one up on sale at some point and I was pretty disappointed, after investing a huge amount of time into Total Annihilation, and getting an incredible amount out of it.

One of my favourite video game memories was a LAN battle with a friend with the TAUIP (Total Annihilation Unit Independency Pack; basically some several hundred extra fan-made units) that went on for about 6 hours before we had to conclude nobody was going to win and call it =P

SC1 was good but not TA. SC2 utterly failed to do it justice in any way.

it was pretty lame the control system and give up after 2-3 hours
