Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

nijuu: The ex bundle thing may play a part in why some of the indie games were so slow..
I'd buy it if it was $1.99 or less, that is my instant buy.

liamphoenix: Don't Starve and Jade Empire are the two I'm waiting for.

I missed Don't Starve, Jade Empire was gone before I could click on it.
Managed to get ahold of Jade Empire, but the system choked initially so it took a little
while and a couple emails to get support to fix it.

animalmother2105: Was System Shock 2 up for the second or third time? I missed it the first time, but I hope it comes once again.
I think System Shock 2 has only been up once.
I hit a lot of the Summer Sale, the D&D bundle alone did a good job of cleaning some out of my wishlist, even though I already owned most of them, those CDs from the 90s were in pretty poor shape.

Ghorpm: Wow, that's pretty impressive :) Which games did you miss?
avatar
CarrionCrow: Let's see....Deus Ex, Icewind Dale, Don't Starve, Nexus, maybe Geneforge, maybe Alpha Centauri.

Novotnus: If I was a Jack Keane developer and visited this topic... oh God, I don't want to think about it :)
avatar
Trilarion: I wouldn't give too much about it. After all it's clearly just some people having fun. It doesn't mean the game is really that bad, only that temporarily some people decided to simultaneously make fun of it.

You could even say it's a publicity for Jack Keane. This guy gets famous this way. Maybe people get curious what this is all about and buy him.

And the current Insomia sale game: Megabyte Punch sells like old bread, but still I don't see anyone posting funny pics about it.
Front page news tommorow morning, Deck13 Interactive disbands.

And some of them don't work on Win 8.

Jade Empire has rotated twice already so seems unlikely again.

Does anything work on Win 8?

Win 7 is Like XP, it's where we sit and hope MS cleans up its mess with Vista/8.

CarrionCrow: Been here roughly 12 hours, and still waiting for what I missed the first time to roll back around.
Good morning to you as well. Sorry, the chair's starting to meld with my ass a bit, momentarily eroded my manners.
avatar
animalmother2105: Holy moly...12hours?
Yeah been here 13 hours, I hope it ends so I can rest

At this rate, I really don't think that'll make the front page. From Wikipedia: "Deck13 Interactive is a German video game company based in Frankfurt, Germany. They are best known for adventure games like Ankh, Ankh: Heart of Osiris and Jack Keane."

On a totally different topic, is anyone else here extremely excited about the release of X: Rebirth tomorrow?

Yeah, that D&D bundle was great, I bought it too.
i was able to get NwN Diamond and Ultima 7 this afternoon
I'm still hoping to catch Deus Ex and maybe Divinity Dragon Commander if the discount is high enough.

CarrionCrow: Let's see....Deus Ex, Icewind Dale, Don't Starve, Nexus, maybe Geneforge, maybe Alpha Centauri.
Geneforge is good! True, it's not the most beautiful game ;) but the gameplay is great. I love the rumor system - the way you speak with commoners will influence the attitude of more important NPCs. So even the smallest decisions you make do matter. In many RPGs you may insult some NPCs but you still get the same dialog options over and over again

CorranHorn: Sacrifice is a master piece, a really nice blend of RPG and RTS and the voice actors are among the best I´ve ever heard.
avatar
Khalaq: That may be because they used A-list actors for the voicing. You're correct, however, in that Sacrifice is a masterpiece.
Yes, I know and even when compared to many games today the VA is top notch=).
