Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Flam3crow: Is the sale gonna end with RCR? It's taking a while.

Yellowsamuel: I hope not, I'm just home from work so now I can actually spare some time to just sit here and wait for a deal to pop up. Only bought two games since this started.
Honestly, when I saw RCR at that price, I didn't expect it to take this long.

No way. Deus EX is yet to come by for a second time.
Retro City Rampage = Retro City Crawl

It really shouldn't, RCR looks pretty fun, but I guess people don't agree.

caledhel: I had great plans for this evening but I just realised I've spent 6 hours on my computer with an occasional break to take a piss
Yes, we are doomed.
You know what kids love for Christmas? Retro City Rampage gift codes! You should buy them some!
avatar
Gunsik: does anyone have 480 bucks?
Hahaha, just have 130 lines of codes, which would be promptly ignored as the most anticipated game would pop up next :P

Heck, buy us some, buy your dog some, buy the developers of Retro City Rampage some, buy the WORLD some.
I just found about this sale a minute ago and it freaked me out when i saw the RCR quantity-left bar just shrink from 400 to 129 almost instantly...made me think it was literally selling that quickly.
It seems I took a shower the perfect time with Retro City Rampage taking this long to go thru. Now I just need Don't Starve to pop up in 30 min before I have to go to work =P

The scary part is some games actually are selling that quickly. Well, almost.

Exactly the same thing that happened to me ...ended up with Blood just because of sheer reflexes. :P

TheIRS: Only been looking out for freebies since I'm low on cash. Thus far, I only tried for Psychonauts; was able to click the button the very second it popped up, but got a busy server error, refreshed right away, and ended up not getting it. We're the other freebies like that. Thought I saw Privateer for a slit second, but I have it anyway...
avatar
Yellowsamuel: Yes, pretty much so. At one point today, some of the freebies didn't even appear on the front page before they were already gone, I only found out about some of them in this thread. Not that I expect something for nothing, but it seems to be next to impossible to grab one.
Yep. For me, all freebies have fallen into one of these 4 categories:
- Freebies that were gone before they even appeared for me, I only heard about them from others
- Freebies that resulted in a "This offer has expired" page
- Freebies that resulted in a "We are overwhelmed" page (the teddy bear with a globe on his shoulders)
- Freebies that resulted in a "Server error 505" page

Some people reported that they did get free games (one even said he got five of them), but (as I said into another thread) for most others it feels quite similar to a lottery booth with a bucket full of blanks.
This is almost as bad as Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
