Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

CarrionCrow: That part made me cringe a bit as well. But doing something for 5 days once every 6 months might not be seen as going back to the same well endlessly.
As Sinistar mentioned, GOG had a Pot of Gold sale and then a Mutator sale within a few months' time and they were the same concept with a minor variation. If that's viable, I have a bit of trouble seeing why doing Insomnia again would be a bad thing. They make a lot of money, get a lot of press, and we get good deals combined with the overall experience.
Agreed. I think if they kept it to once a year, it would remain more exciting as well, without burning people out or eclipsing the other major sales. I think we got two in one year simply because they wanted to reprise the success of the first one, and to test out some additional changes. I'm fine with them making future Insomnias a Fall-only event, if that helps keep it special for everyone.

Technically, we didn't have two insomnias in 2014. Arguably, we did get them within a year.

Correct, I meant a one-year span of time. Namely, Fall and the following Spring. If they are considering making it an annual event, my vote would go for Fall, since that's more conducive to time spent indoors. At least in the Northern Hemisphere.

budejovice: I imagine I have made it fairly clear that I would LOVE another Insomnia.

That said, there's this little bit from the article that CarrionCrow linked.

"We want to keep some magic," Rambourg said. "When you make something crazy like that regular, you kill some magic. We should use it from time to time, and that's it."

Now I think you guys make a lot of sense here in the most recent posts. But it doesn't seem inevitable.
We also havent had a decent sale for a while now (no i wont count any sale around GOG galaxy as most games i imagine will be multicrap.. er i multiplayer centric imho)
Please GOG i need Insomnia in my veins.

So, I checked GOG's Twitter - no hype, no hint, nth.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but it looks like no Fall Insomnia Promo for us. :(

A fall Insomnia also fits nicely with all the holiday shopping madness... As long as they don't do it BF weekend

You aren't being a killjoy, so no need to apologize. Figuring that as a possibility, but can't be sure without confirmation.
And forum-based confirmation probably won't happen since Judas is the guy stuck on the front line with his hands tied nine times out of ten. I could bother him, spam him with messages and so on, but why be another person yapping at him and humping his leg for info he isn't allowed to give out if he even has it at all?

I'll just keep on bumping the thread every little bit until one of these things occur -

1. Someone with blue letters says it's happening.
2. Someone with blue letters says it isn't.
3. It actually happens. (Duh. ;) )
4. The month ends with nothing. (Based on the thought that they aren't going to split Winter Sale revenue between that and Insomnia.)
5. Someone with blue letters tells me I'm breaking some kind of forum rule with repeated bumps and to knock it off.

The release can very well be just delayed, it wouldn't be the first time releases went live later than the usual 12:00 GMT mark.
Also, it's a national holiday in Poland, so I doubt they'd go live with such a major event on a holiday, i.e. closed office.

That's true.... but even if it's not today, there's always Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to hope for. Let's not lose all hope yet, guys. :)

If I'm looking at it completely logically, I would personally put the Insomnia sales as a Spring-only event. Being around March means it's three months from the last big sale either way (back: December, forwards: June). The downside of not having a sale in November is that it potentially reduces intake and revenue due to people looking at other sites for sales.

(Edit: Of course, GOG does have its birthday in September, and again going purely by logic setting up major sales March-June-September-December ensures an even spread of income generation once every three months. But, again, pure logical reasoning.)

Well, spring insomnia and summer sales were only one month apart.
*sigh* Maybe next week.

*edit On the plus side, I suppose I can stop walking around making veiled comments insinuating I feel a flu coming on ;)
