Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

wackyanne: Hello again, fellow addicts!

Hopefully with some sleep under your belts, you've had a chance to look over and even play a game or two you picked up.

Any major regrets?

Any pleasant surprises?

Anything left on your wishlist, not included in the sale?
I was happy with the games I got :)
Caught a few I had been wanting...
...and didnt break the bank...prices were good!
Missed a couple...but they'll come around again.
I enjoyed the event and the forum community was fun too.
Thanks to GOG and all here for good old games and good vibes :)

Finally had a chance take stock of the haul. I ended up with 34 games (guess it's an early Christmas).

A possible regret might be missing out of the Thief series - somehow always manage to fall asleep when a Thief's game came up.

Wasn't planning on picking up this many games, but having gone back and read the reviews more, I think I'll enjoy them (e.g. both of The Witcher games, King of Dragon Pass, and the Blackwell Bundle).

Had any of the Fallout series been in the sale, I would have picked up copies, even though I have the original CDs. Can't go wrong with Fallout (if only we had some stim packs to help us though the Keaning).

GMG has the Thief series on sale at the moment, but it is for Steam rather than GOG. Hopefully a lot of these and other games will end up in the Christmas sale, although the discounts might not be as good.
This still topic going strong?

Why... That is fantastic!

Of course! Just as Jack Keane kept it up, we'll keep this thread going :)

The Keane is strong in this thread.
I'm a bit late but i just wanted to say i really enjoyed this crazy sale. :D
It was a bitter-sweet experience but definitely a memorable one and i wouldn't mind seeing another sale like this in the future. I only bought 5 games (missed a few because i had to sleep from time to time) but i also snagged 3 freebies and i could finally give out my 2 TW1 gift codes (hope you enjoy the game guys!).

Games bought:
---------------------

Ultima Underworld 1+2
I Have no Mouth, and I Must Scream (Wow, this is much better than i expected. Glad i grabbed it.)
Aquanox 2
Neverwinter Nights 2
HOMM 3

Overall i had a great time during this sale. Thanks GOG-Team and all you guys! :)
Early on in this sale, I already didn't like it as it was too stressful. I still tried to give it a fair shake, and at the end, I vote against this type of sale. While I did manage to get a handful of games I wanted, there were three games in the sale roster that I really wanted, and by the end, no matter how much I checked, I never even saw them personally. I much prefer a sale where I can buy what I want at any time over a sale where I have to be looking at the store for the right few minutes. If this sale type comes up again, I won't participate. Thumbs down for insomnia sale.

I can honestly say that I don't regret losing sleep. I had so much fun lurking and participating in this forum. Though I didn't grab RCT3, I was able to pick up:

Psychonauts
Jade Empire
NWN
Theme Hospital
Thief Gold
Thief

All of which were pleasant surprises. If I weren't hanging out in the forums, I never would have picked up these titles. This is such a great community.
Ultima vii is amazing, cant believe I never got into it before
Has there been any comment from the gog team about this sale somewhere in this thread? I'm wondering how they have experienced all of this. Thought things would sell faster, slower, etc.

Never tried it to be honest, but I am getting curious.

OK, I'm cancelling the $99,999.99 Jack Keane 2. Get some sleep.

It's one of the great games. And for the price, you get all of the expansion as well, which can easily add hundred of hours of game play time. You can take the game as fast or as slow as you want, all the time exploring the world and trying out all of the items you can interact with.

I just woke up, did I miss the $99,999.99 Jack Keane 2?

My final list of spoils:
Assasins Creed
Beyond Good & Evil
Geneforge 1-5
Heroes 3
Jade Empire SE
Master of Magic
Master of Orion 1+2
Might and Magic 6-pack
Neverwinter Nights 1
Neverwinter Nights 2
Nexus: Jupiter Incident
Planescape: Torment
Populous: The Beginning
Postal 2
Psychonauts
Rogue Legacy
Sacred Gold
Spellforce Platinum
Startopia
System Shock 2
Tales of Monkey Island
Theme Hospital
Total Annihilation
Total Annihilation: Kingdoms
Tropico 3
Witcher 2

My biggest regret will probably be Tales of Monkey Island, it'll eventually be cheaper. I probably shouldn't have splurged and gotten Jade Empire or Assassins Creed either.

Jade Empire, Rogue Legacy, and Nexus are my impulse buys. And I didn't grab some of the other heavy hitters because I own them through other means.

It is all in the name of fun. How much can we really save from another 10-20% further discount? For many, it is the thrill of being there when a good deal pops up rather than the actual savings.

Many were buying games to give out for free.

I am sorry you did not like this type of sale but it is a big thumbs up for me. I hope GOG does this annually but only once to preserve its uniqueness (and to save us from insomnia).
