Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

wackyanne: Hello again, fellow addicts!

Hopefully with some sleep under your belts, you've had a chance to look over and even play a game or two you picked up.

Any major regrets?

Any pleasant surprises?

Anything left on your wishlist, not included in the sale?
Hello!

My only regret was succumbing to sleep when I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream went by on Round 3 (I missed it the first two rounds because of work).

This was my first sojourn into the forums here on GOG and wow, it was such a pleasant surprise! The community here is fantastic! Everyone rallied together to pull each other through the lulls in the sale. I did not post much along the way but found great entertainment following along! Again, thank you to everyone for entertaining me on what a long strange trip it's been!

I really wanted Fallout 2 but alas, it was not on The List. I will anxiously await the Winter Sale to see if Santa has deemed me a good boy, which is probably unlikely... HA!
I have so many new games i dont know what to play.

cjc7: Hi there , no regrets, none at all , I seem never to catch up with everything on my wish list, but put a good sized dent in it.
How about you, have you been playing your new games, or are you still in the recovery stage, as most of us left in here are?
I picked up Duke Nukem 3D, and played it the first time a game "Keaned". It might have been Keane itself ;) I couldn't resist that fun ole' game for a buck fifty. Then I actually rediscovered Torchlight on my shelf, a freebie from June, and have been playing that almost every chance I get. My husband had just put a Windows partition on my Mac desktop so I could play Diablo I (from the original CD), but Torchlight's playable on my MacBook, is similar enough to scratch the itch, and different enough to make it extra enjoyable and more than just a walk down memory lane.
Slight regrets about not picking up Ultima VII, but it'll come around again, and I don't actually have much time to play, with two active young boys to focus on.

Just looking over a few games I didn't buy on initial impulse and now wish I did instead of a few that I DID buy on impulse and now wish I hadn't. Make sense LOL?

Any pleasant surprises?
Grabbing some of the more expensive ones for cheap, like Jade Empire, was a nice surprise!

Anything left on your wishlist, not included in the sale?
Lots left but they are mostly new additions to GOG or just weren't chosen I guess.

Probably Planescape. it was a lot easier to play games when i was a kid. I had to play what i was given and usually had to stick with that game or two until my Bday or holiday. Now with 400+ Steam, 70+ Gog and countless other games across multiple distributions im in a complete cluster f*** of gaming...

I feel like i have gaming ADD.

This is SO my problem as well. Between my wife and a 6 yr old boy and a 2 yr old boy, don't really get all that much time to play and now I have a massive backlog of games thanks to this sale LOL.

cjc7: Would Costume Quest be a good game for pre-teen girls ? If you know.
Well I haven't played it, but it was a PSN and Xbox download game with age suitability ratings of 10+ by ESRB and 7 by PEGI so it should be suitable. Enjoyable is another question, it's supposed to be witty and amusing, but may be a bit repetitive, which is why I will wait until it's on sale for a few $s.

All of it

My wife says i have gaming commitment issues.
She says it came about during World of Warcraft running a raid schedule 6 days a week for almost two years...

So now if i feel like i have to do something i will lose all interest.

If i feel like i need to beat something it gets uninstalled.

its pretty bad.

Same here. I was actually on my first playthru of Baldur's Gate Trilogy when this all began. I really want to finish but I am tempted to try out my new shinny games. All and all, I think it is a good problem to have.

Thank You for the information, I have a hard time with the Granddaughters, the Grandsons are quite easy for me to please, but that , I think , is quite typical . I think I will try that for them soon.

I was mostly sleeping normally. I'm the guy that, when I saw Keane in the second round, immediately went to bed but then it was already pretty late so... xP Yeah, I missed all the fun, but at least I honored Keane by taking the chance he freely gave and actually slept :P

Regrets? Nah. Ok so I made a few impulse buys cause they were really cheap but the new indie games I got were pretty nice so no harm done.

I wouldn't have cared that much about the sales or have bought more than half the stuff I did if it wasn't for the sales thread, that was tons of fun.

I generally keep a small wishlist. I got most of the stuff I had back in the 90s so I'm generally covered as far as good OLD games go. My wishlist probably has 3-4 games tops now, I'm in no hurry. Oh right... I added ONE game to my wishlist because of the sales. JACK KEANE 2 xP
