Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

itchy01ca01: It was fun to banter with the community in this thread, and I got a ton of games for cheap as well:D
My haul:
Geneforge
King of Dragon Pass
Populous
Syberia
Aquanox 2
Deus Ex
MOO1+2
Startopia
NW2
Privateer
Nexus
Age of Wonders
Planescape: Torment
BG1
Icewind Dale
Primordia
Alpha Centauri
Jade Empire
Heroes III
Expedition Conquistador

Still missing a few that I wanted, but Im sure those will show up on the christmas deals :)
That's a good haul. Deus Ex is still one of my all time favorites .
One significant thing GOG has done for me and which the community have helped give more momentum to is change my gaming tastes. It used to be racing pretty much all the time with a little more racing here and there for variety. But being of an old-school nature, when I discovered GOG my interests broadened and I started buying things I hadn't even considered before. I feel my rebirth is now more or less complete after reading so much of what other people like and why and buying into the same pleasing mindset when a game came along (both pre- and post-Keane) that caught my interest. So there's another thing I have to be grateful to you folks for...

cjc7: brb, hey, don't leave me alone in here, I look pretty silly writing posts to myself to get us over 36000, They would probably have someone come and take me to a home...:(
For one weeks worth this thread is massive. It was moving so fast that I didn't even bother to try and keep up with it. I just came in kinda like what I'm doing now, and reading a post or two on a page, and then I might make a post myself every now and then, and that's about it.

I'm not complaining, but it was moving a little too fast for my taste. It creates a lot extra work to communicate. Also, for some reason whenever I make a post, not sure if quoting or creating one or both, as soon as it's submitted I automatically get sent back about 3-5 pages. That's kind of annoying.

Haven't actually played this one yet :P My PC in the early 00s was pretty bare-bones and I had Win98 for the LONGEST time until I finally switched to XP. I still have Vista on this machine, but it runs everything minus the very very latest, and even those usually run on medium settings.

You are right, at certain points it was just hang in and try to at least keep current. I had written a post many many Keanes ago saying I hope GOG would keep this thread intact going forward... There was so much good information apart from the humor that I would, given time, and the energy love to go back and read to comprehend rather than to just see in passing.

You are in for a real treat, I have played it through time and time again...I know you'll enjoy it.

Maybe It's my age or energy level , but more and more as of late I prefer the adventure games, a little slower pace not all the combat, a little more lighthearted I guess is the word I want. I just recently after all these years played Zork GQ , The Book of Unwritten Tales, etc. and totally enjoyed them. I find I also now have a greater appreciation of the art work in the games.

Here's what I ended up with:

Heroes of Might and Magic 3
King of Dragon Pass
Tomb Raider 1-3
King's Bounty: Crossworlds
Alpha Centauri
Ultima Underworld 1 & 2
Sacred Gold
Heroes of Might and Magic 5
Ultima 7
Neverwinter Nights 2
Startopia
Total Annihilation: Kingdoms
Populous: The Beginning
Might and Magic 6 Pack
The Lords of Midnight
Wargame: European Escalation
Defender's Quest
Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic

Only a couple were impulse buys, and all of them make me smile.

I added Nox, Lords of the Realm and Dungeon Keeper Gold from the weekend promo because I liked the look of them.

I can't believe I got by with so little sleep...

Hey all. It's good to see all the warm fuzzies floating around here. I'm glad I got to experience this crazy event with such fine company. A special thanks to Tai for gifting me Torchlight and Nightrunner227 for pickiing up Psychonauts for me, a nice gift to wake up to. First day at my new job went smoothly. Getting ready to sit down to a nice meal, and later maybe I will play some sweet games. We should do this again. ;)

I have to be honest, I'm too lazy to do that. I'm just not going to read 35,000+ posts. he he But hey, I'm not knocking it, more power to you.

I am a bit curious to hear what GOG says about the promo, but I guess that won't be till tomorrow or later.

One thing along those lines I wish this forum had was a means exporting all posts of a thread into a printer-friendly document, even something as simple as a plain text file. I shrudder to think how many pages that would end up being, but it could be stored electronically and read whenever one wished.

Those are all great games, and I know for you to get all of those you had to miss much sleep, but also just think about how much you got for the price you paid, I really and truly appreciated this sale I got some games that were on my wish list for quite awhile just because I could not justify in my own mind spending the amount they were, when I have games I have not as yet played all the way through. But you know , some games , even good ones just are not for everyone , and what one loves the other finds a bore. If I loose interest in a game I just tend to let it lay rather than playing it through.

I remember reading that a forum member had a new job today but could not remember which one (lack of sleep tends to do that).

Congrats on the first day, and hope everything continues to work out for you there!

That is a very good idea, I do recall some forums did achieve the threads and allow you download them. That would be nice.

Heh I didn't end up with too much luckily. Oddly enough the only game I didn't have and really wanted for this promo was Don't Starve that starved me of almost 20+hours of sleep waiting for it to show up. The rest were just cheap impulse buys that I didn't have, yet seemed interesting enough to get. That and I prefer the GoG version to steam version ^_^

Beyond Good & Evil
Space Colony HD
Age of Wonders Shadow Magic
Fez
Sacred Gold
Don't Starve
Two Worlds Epic Edition
Eador
Psychonauts
Brutal Legend
Reus
Jade Empire
Tomb Raider 123
The Lords of Midnight

I also had alot of fun bantering with the other insomniacs on this board too ^_^

Its interesting you said that, because the forum has made me do the opposite. All of that enthusiasm has got me itching to get deep into whatever I play and get the most out of it. I get a similar feeling from YouTubing games I'm interested in when I find someone who loves what they're playing. It makes me want to do the same. The result of playing only racing games for years, I suppose.
