Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Alright Insomniacs,

Now that it's all said and done, if you purchased NWN 1 and are interested in roleplay in multiplayer, there's a server that's looking for you:

Arenthyor (www.arenthyor.com)

Kind of a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting. Elves abandoned the world just before a great catastrophe a while ago. Life has returned to some sense of normalcy, though the world is very dangerous now.

Challenging action and fun RP. Tons of quests with random flair so that you're never doing the exact same quest twice. Relatively low-magic and you have to use strategy to survive - blindly charging into combat only gets you killed.

There's a lot more to it than that, of course, but hopefully that will whet your appetite.

Also! If you PM DM Sabre on the forums with the phrase: "I survived the Keaning", you'll get hooked up with some bonus gear to start.

Just started Defender's Quest. Honestly it looks great, the gameplay's good so far, and the humour's genuinely pretty charming and funny.

I was on the fence about that game but SOOOOOO glad I accidently forgot to get a gift code with the first purchase of it. :-) Had a REALLY good game going but got stuck trying to find a worthwhile stone deposit to build a fire pit. Still made it like 8 days.

Haven't installed that one but it was a spur of the moment purchase I made while still half asleep. Looks like fun though. (Love TD games!)

The gameplay reminds me of Minecraft (only seen others play that one on Youtube) and Terraria (really a MP game but I have lost many hours playing it alone). Terraria is another game that needs to be on GoG, the Steam version is (afaik) free of DRM.

Which one? Don't Starve or Defender's Quest? (Forum consolidated my replies.)

I think Don't Starve is what would happen if Tim Burton took over the Animal Crossing franchise. :-)
So, what happened at the end of the sale? Anything special, or was it just over? I was up for the second to last game, but there was nothing else I wanted and didn't feel like staying up to see the end. Did I miss anything?

Just a "This promo has ended" in the box.

Psychonauts ran out and a banner faded in to announce the end of the sale. When you refreshed the home page was back to normal. Nothing too exciting.
That's kind of what I figured would happen. Would have been sad if I'd missed a big free game giveaway like some people were hoping for though :P. In fact, I'm surprised no one tried to troll me into thinking that had happened!

Had I still been at my computer I was thinking about orchestrating something like that with everyone else who was on. Something like 101 units of all 101 games in the sale. :-)
Now that the sale has ended, does that mean this thread will die a slow Keaning death?
Final List

Thief 1
Thief 2
Thief 3
Tomb Raider 1+2+3
RCT3 Platinum
Two Worlds 2 Epic Edition
Tropico 3 Gold
Kings Bounty Crossworlds GOTY
Divine Divinity (Weekend Promo)
Stronghold HD (Weekend Promo)
System Shock 2
Assassins Creed 1 Directors Cut (Gift from error77)

Thanks for the sale GOG, never do this to us again!

Only if we let it! :-)
Is psychonauts already gone? (LOL)
