Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

LAU00050: :( I'll go and edit my post for political correctness. Valid point though
avatar
BlueLemon: It's not PC at all. It's just not ignoring half the population. Thanks for noticing it though, no need to change all your posts though! I didn't -1 anyone for it, lol. :)
Except that it IS political correctness. Turning something relatively harmless and innocent, like lightly referring to people as "you guys", "chaps", or "sir", and having that be assumed as some indirect or direct disrespect for any/all females that are gamers or are in this thread. Can we have an informal and pleasant conversational tone to things without requiring strict adherence to rules regarding "proper" codes for language?

I find PC speech more divisive than open misogyny, which I can easily identify and ignore or rebut. Political correctness demands we all conform or suffer the consequences of trying to prove non-conformity to strident demands isn't somehow proof of "guilt" of some kind.

I hope friendly conversations about a hobby we all seem to enjoy is a worthy enough thing to decide to simply let minor slights, intentional or non-intentional, go without taking offense and putting everyone else on the defensive by bringing it up. Remember when we were just kids and could simply have fun with other kids without all of this other baggage? Yay?...

CalicoPup: GoG, seriously. Don't ever do another sale like this again.

I don't think my wallet could take it.

If you're going to do it, however, any chance you could throw in Papers, Please?
Or more of the Sierra Quest Games?
Space Quest and King's Quest specifically?

Seriously though, thank you for this opportunity to stay up late and possibly kill people at work the next day.
And Quest for Glory!

Actually, that's why I stayed up for a good part of the Keaning... because I didn't yet know what was, and what wasn't included. The rest of the time I stayed up for fun, and for other games. But QFG.... oh how I want you!

TheEnigmaticT: Whew!

We'll post some facts here in this thread and on social media as well in a bit, but I wanted to say thanks for staying up with us in our Insomnia Sale. Get some sleep, y'all. :)
Well since I have access to GOG's database I will post them right now for you.

Best selling game: Jack Keane 2
Quickest sell out:Jack Keane 2
Most beloved game:Jack Keane 2
Most talked about game: Jack Keane 2
Slowest selling game: System Shock 2 (1000 years to sell 10 copies)
Let's sum it up...
6 games bought for myself.
1 game given away in this very topic.
1 game saved for a giveaway later.
In my opinion, this Fall Insomnia Promo was super-fun.
And I'm glad I was able to catch all the games I wanted during the initial run! :)

Quest for... Pshaw!

As far as I'm concerned it is, and always will be, Hero's Quest.

That's what I put on my Xmas list the year it came out, that's what I opened on XMas morning, and that's what I played for HOURS and HOURS, enjoying every minute of it!
So, festival is over now. Several Keanes of amusement, insomnia and freebie-hunt ends. I enjoyed it well.
Thank you GOG. Thank you, awesome community.

skeletonbow: For joystick stuff I've got a Saitek X52-Pro flight stick and throttle system, and the addon rudders for flight sims. It's pretty awesome for any flight type games both new and ancient. Same level of ultra-programmability and emulation in their software as well. That and a NaturalPoint TrackIR Pro for flight sims, racing sims and a few FPS games like ArmA. I'm going to pick up a Logitech G27 racing wheel sometime soon too and get into that more. Lots of cool hardware out there! :)

FoxySage: The last time i used a joystick on the PC was the Amiga when playing Street Fighter II. Haven't used one since. Then again, most of the games i play doesn't require it. ;)
Yeah, I only use the stick for flight simulators, flight combat sims, space combat sims. That's what it's designed for really, but I don't think it'd be the best hardware for other games. I'm mostly a mouse/keyboard player and if there was a game where a stick would be useful I'd probably use my Logitech cordless rumblepad as those type of things are the hip controller nowadays over old style sticks. :)

wackyanne: Thanks to you for listing over the hours, and for a final farewell ;)

This is the afterparty where jubilation turns into bittersweet drinking until everyone gently dozes off, just to find themselves in the real world afterwards.

Nah - quickest sell out has to be Retro City Rampage, round 2. :-D

Yes lets go to Anna K karaoke in helsinki with all the drunks and be nostalgic about this great promo that has now ended

BlueLemon: I'm off too, delayed in heading off. I feel like a couple people misread my post. It wasn't an attack on everyone, or for people using 'guys'. Some people were assuming that only men were on the threads, and some others things. I think this community is great, and I wouldn't want to cause upset. When I wrote my post, it was just to give some understanding, it wasn't about 'being offended', but I feel like some have got offended or upset from my post.. Strange that.. I enjoyed the sale and this thread. Hope everyone has a good day or evening!! :)

Starchild771: I think people tend to presume that folks on gaming forums like this are male unless the there are obvious signs like a username like "Jane" or an obvious female avatar.

That means that for users like myself, who use the ambiguous names like "Starchild", we are frequently presumed to be male, and I am neither male nor a child ;)

It doesn't bother me at all but there are plenty of women around who game but don't feel inclined to announce there gender with every comment :)
I don't think you can go by a female avatar either. A lot of people of all genders play games like Tomb Raider or other games with a female hero/protagonist, or perhaps an RPG with a character that's female like the Rogue in Diablo, etc. and might dig the character and use it as their avatar just to show their favourite or current character. Doesn't have to match their own gender. I've seen lots of people do that. The reverse would be true also, where a female uses a male avatar from a game for the same reasons.

Welcome to the worst nightmare of all: reality!
The Oxford English Dictionaries word of 2013 is Selfie.

Lets make the word of 2014 Keane!

And now it is time for me to go. It's been a good time here.
