Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

CharlesGrey: Come on guys, why is Spellforce selling so slowly? It's a pretty interesting series. Seems like most of the GOG members like RPGs and/or RTS and this basically has both. It takes a while to get into it, but it's a nice change from regular RPGs or strategy games.
Dang, I slept through that one or I would have bought a copy of it to help speed the sale up, it looks like a good game and a lot of people said good things about it so I added it to my "buy" list. Will have to get it next time it's on sale I guess.

BlueLemon: I'm off too, delayed in heading off. I feel like a couple people misread my post. It wasn't an attack on everyone, or for people using 'guys'. Some people were assuming that only men were on the threads, and some others things. I think this community is great, and I wouldn't want to cause upset. When I wrote my post, it was just to give some understanding, it wasn't about 'being offended', but I feel like some have got offended or upset from my post.. Strange that.. I enjoyed the sale and this thread. Hope everyone has a good day or evening!! :)

Starchild771: I think people tend to presume that folks on gaming forums like this are male unless the there are obvious signs like a username like "Jane" or an obvious female avatar.

That means that for users like myself, who use the ambiguous names like "Starchild", we are frequently presumed to be male, and I am neither male nor a child ;)

It doesn't bother me at all but there are plenty of women around who game but don't feel inclined to announce there gender with every comment :)
Starchild from the old V series=)?
avatar
LAU00050: Oh no, the problem is when people do start believing the lies horrible individuals can feed. Thanks for the vote of confidence, it does take courage to go out and tell a group what they are doing is wrong, even if they are unaware of it (which you've gone out and done). This, and the hardcore/casual gaming debate seems to be played at nonsensical end, but it's because change does need to happen. The Penny Arcade Expo feud didn't occur for no reason.

Anyway, enjoy your games from the sale, and get some sleep :)
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: I agree. This is still an issue in some places, and I think you were very polite in asking everyone to consider that. Enjoy your games! I too have had a great time here, and I hope there will be more sales like this.
Almost on my way out, just wanted to say thanks to you both (and to others previously)!!! Hope there will be more threads and sales like this too. Enjoy your games too. :)

CorranHorn: Starchild from the old V series=)?
Ah no, the name comes from a band (Parliament/Funkadelic) that I was listening to at the time :)
Yes. Finally. It ended. More new games to come. Thanks GOG for this promo.

Knofbath: Jump would be "W", and Use would be "E" in a side-scroller FPS.
avatar
Yarilo: Side-scroller FPS? uh... does that exist? xD
Sure they do!

Think FPS in an arcade, with the screen moving on rails left to right!

XD
I'm looking for Thief 2, because I want to complete the saga and I missed it during the promo. Maybe someone got an extra one... Saddly I don't have much to offer in exchange right now (Dead Space, Burnout Paradise, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Medal of Honor, Mirror's Edge, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising, Populous). Thanks!
avatar
Cardian: I even remember a time where some lady called out for all the girls and got... one reply and that one was a male only talking about the fact that there was no reply. Of course, there are more than one female in here but I dare think it's safe to assume that the majority is male and that nobody is trying to offend anyone when they say "Hey guys." or something. And if someone, indeed, IS offended by that... well, I roll my eyes at people that are always and all too easily offended by everything.
avatar
wackyanne: I know I'm late catching up, but I remember that post. Or one just like it. I didn't feel comfortable answering it - something in the way it was phrased, or just the boldness of it. And/or because I thought the call out came from a guy...
i thought guys was a general term including both males and females XD

mm3n: I still have a hope I will find Thief 3 or Assassin's Creed: DC at least for trade of some sort, sorry for reposting this a bit too many times, just the thread is as vast as it could be :/ If you have those titles (or Theme Hospital/D&D titles), please message me and we'll see if we can work something out!

Thanks, just trying all my chances. I'll see what if I can negotiate a deal there too though!

"Guys" generally is; that was a call out for "ladies" and the way it was phrased, or something, made me feel uncomfortable about raising my hand as such. Never felt anything like that on the forum here, or a few other gaming-related forums I visit, but I have experienced geek-girl-directed-hate before.

Anyway, "guys" being used as a generic term wasn't the issue, in either discussion.

Best to drop it, as all the OPs are offline, and you'd have to hunt to get the sense anyway. I'm off too.

GoG, seriously. Don't ever do another sale like this again.

I don't think my wallet could take it.

If you're going to do it, however, any chance you could throw in Papers, Please?
Or more of the Sierra Quest Games?
Space Quest and King's Quest specifically?

Seriously though, thank you for this opportunity to stay up late and possibly kill people at work the next day.
Adding my thanks to GOG for this sale. While I wasn't around for over half of it, I did pick up a few games for giving rather than playing myself. And the forum was going wIth activity from new and old members alike. Sure there were people unhappy with it but in an online world, there won't ever be 100% agreement on anything. And judging by the comments I've seen about this sale, the overwhelming response has been a positive one. Nice job!
I can't believe the size of this thread. Most forums don't get that many total posts in ages.
