Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

FearfulSymmetry: Honestly, I don't mind being included in 'guys'. I call my female friends 'guys' too. However, I agree with you on the other things. Gaming websites can be extremely hostile to women. It's been hard not to get overly offended by some of the things I've seen on the internet. I agree that GOG is doing fine so far, though.

BlueLemon: That wasn't my point really. It wasn't about just being called guys. I was reading posts on the thread where people were assuming everyone on here were men.. and other things.. I know what you mean, I've read posts about it, and women gamers have talked about it to me. GOG is a good community though. I feel like my post have been misunderstood, or not even read, lol.
I think it's a natural assumption since most people in this community ARE male. I did get irritated when someone went 'well of course you're all guys'. In that context guys means 'males'. Which is very limiting and ridiculous. People with a uterus do hang around here, thanks.

Tbh the only blatant sexism I've seen is that one troll and calling me stupid for getting offended at the notion that Leisure Suit Larry exists and still sells.

Shadowcat: (Mind you, I do feel a little bad for the developers... it's not as if I've played the game, and I imagine there are countless games out there which are far worse than JK2... it mostly just seemed like a case of wrong place, wrong time, wrong price. Hopefully all this hasn't done any real harm to them.)
What, why? This is like the publicity jackpot for them. Nobody knew this game last week.
Anybody got some copies to spare to gift or trade? Missed some deals.
If you like Stephen King then I can recommend Alan Wake (ir´s a really good port and looks stunning on a modern PC).
The games also got some really good music (like old gods of asgard (Poets of the fall))

Wow : D can´t believe its over : \ What were the last games on sale? : )

Shadowcat: Thanks for all the entertainment, everyone! I think the original Keaning may have been the highlight. It'll certainly be the single most infamous event of the sale, I'm sure.

I decided that "keane" is my new personal antonym for "keen". It does have the slight down-side that it's impossible to use in conversation (unless you wish to deliberately mislead someone, whilst still convincing yourself that you're telling the honest truth), but it's perfect for casual use in the GOG forums!

Time to sleep.
I seriously believe that The Prime Keaning and everything that came out of it is the best promo the developers of Jack Keane 2 could ever hope for on this site. The game became a legend and I don't think that its reputation is hurt much. In fact, I think that many people would like to own this piece of history now and are just waiting for the perfect deal.

I have seen a lot of weird preconceptions in real life, though. I have this one male friend who believes that women who game don't care about looking pretty - i.e. wearing make up or fancy clothes. First of all, whether you choose to do those things or not shouldn't matter, and secondly, I don't see how any of it has anything to do with gaming. I haven't been able to talk him out of it, though.

BlueLemon: It's not PC at all. It's just not ignoring half the population. Thanks for noticing it though, no need to change all your posts though! I didn't -1 anyone for it, lol. :)

LAU00050: No you were in perfect grounds of stating your point. I wouldn't be offended if you did -1 me. There are people out there who let slip of this fact, but formally from the female gamers I do speak to in person, rarely is that a major irritant. I'm happy you've called it out, since it would be awful if this turned out like the RPS threads, with moderators needing to address these issues personally. All I can hope is I haven't offended anyone
Thank you! Feel a lot better now, someone was taking real offense to what I wrote, got hung up on one part, and let slip what I was really intending. You are awesome! +100 if I could!! :D It was more about people writing in threads that no women were here, or acting like there were only het men playing games, and some other stereotypes. For the most part, and I really do mean most, gog has been a great community!!! I didn't mean to make it look like I was getting at everyone on here, or making it seem like it wasn't. I just wanted to point it out to a very very few amount and they chose how they wanted to take it, lol.

That's silly. Sure one of my gamer ladyfriends is pretty smelly and unwashed, but one of them has a pretty nice dress sense and another is well dressed most of the time. She sits around in her PJs at home. Most of the women I know game.
Actually most of the people I know game. Male, female, other, I just know a bunch of people who at least play games and are usually full on gamers.

Don't forget the near perfect rating and good reviews it got out of this sale. ;)
Despite some insomnia and disappointments (due to the need to sleep) over last few days, this sale promo has been immensely enjoyable because of the great community here.

I'm really proud to have followed and contributed to the community through this journey from beginning to the end (which coincides with the day of my final exam!). Will continue to be an active part of such great community!

Keane to do this again some time :)
I missed the end. And thief two. stupid sleep.
lol. there is actual news about Jack Kean 2 and GOG's Insomnia Sale:
