Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

One more night to believe and then ... another note for my requiem,
a memory to carry on - the story's over when the crowds are gone!"

nijuu: Anyone got a spare Rogue Legacy to trade?.

End of promo was a tad anticlimatic.... think its because many complained at the end wanting this or that...
I think what made it anti-climatic was the fact that as a community we made the whole promo such a climatic and wonderful deal... in the end though, it was still just a promo.

LAU00050: :( I'll go and edit my post for political correctness. Valid point though

BlueLemon: It's not PC at all. It's just not ignoring half the population. Thanks for noticing it though, no need to change all your posts though! I didn't -1 anyone for it, lol. :)
No you were in perfect grounds of stating your point. I wouldn't be offended if you did -1 me. There are people out there who let slip of this fact, but formally from the female gamers I do speak to in person, rarely is that a major irritant. I'm happy you've called it out, since it would be awful if this turned out like the RPS threads, with moderators needing to address these issues personally. All I can hope is I haven't offended anyone

npalsensei: You got to admit, some site fireworks would have been fun xP But at least we got the bear on the forum :P
Oh we saw the bear more than once... ;)

BlueLemon: Yes, I do realise that, but it isn't always the case. Plus, I find it interesting that if we used any terms that are normally used for women, it tends to be used as an insult, or humerous. I do remember the 'Hey you guyyyyyyyyyyys', from (Goonies) ;) And, I, from time to time, use it too.

It wasn't just 'guys' that I was pointing out. You only picking that out from what I wrote is derailing, ignoring what it can feel like for others, and ignoring the bigger picture. It isn't about being politically incorrect at all. People really do get hung up on that.. Imagine if we assumed everyone here were white.. what would that feel like to people who weren't..
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: Honestly, I don't mind being included in 'guys'. I call my female friends 'guys' too. However, I agree with you on the other things. Gaming websites can be extremely hostile to women. It's been hard not to get overly offended by some of the things I've seen on the internet. I agree that GOG is doing fine so far, though.
That wasn't my point really. It wasn't about just being called guys. I was reading posts on the thread where people were assuming everyone on here were men.. and other things.. I know what you mean, I've read posts about it, and women gamers have talked about it to me. GOG is a good community though. EDIT: Sorry, there was a couple people taking offense to what I wrote, so I read yours wrong initially, I know what you mean. :)

LAU00050: *Snaps back to consciousness

Oh, what a horrible night to have a curse. And where have all these games come from? Oh, not again?!

In all seriousness, it's been fun. Special thanks to Kaitu for being a fine gentleman and gifting me Beyond Good and Evil despite my best wishes, and Khaleesia87 for trading and the long chats. Should be back again for the xmas sale. Arrivederci all!

CarrionCrow: Upvoted for kickass out of the blue Simon's Quest reference.
Thanks, it was a spur of the moment
Thanks for all the entertainment, everyone! I think the original Keaning may have been the highlight. It'll certainly be the single most infamous event of the sale, I'm sure.

I decided that "keane" is my new personal antonym for "keen". It does have the slight down-side that it's impossible to use in conversation (unless you wish to deliberately mislead someone, whilst still convincing yourself that you're telling the honest truth), but it's perfect for casual use in the GOG forums!

(Mind you, I do feel a little bad for the developers... it's not as if I've played the game, and I imagine there are countless games out there which are far worse than JK2... it mostly just seemed like a case of wrong place, wrong time, wrong price. Hopefully all this hasn't done any real harm to them.)

Time to sleep.

JohnnyDollar: Sounds like a personal problem. Either way I don't care.
I meant hung up on the 'this is politically correct bs', not on 'guys'.

Haha, I suppose there is that. Well at least they're still gonna post some statistics here eventually. Can't wait to see those. I have to wonder if one of the stats will be "How many times 'Keane' was mentioned." (I doubt it.. but that'd be awesome. :D)
well...
so if anyone has a spare "Thief 2" for maybe trading "Witcher 1" or Realms of Arkania 1+2" ... *_*

but thanks anyway
