Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

CarrionCrow: Still thinking about an ad from Walmart to get a PS3 and a couple games for 200 dollars. Pretty sure I'd rather have my prostate checked by a drunk blind doctor with hook hands. Can't stand Walmart, and I can guarantee I'll save more money than I would there by buying games from GOG, and feel about a million times better about myself in the process.

SpiderFighter: That's been around since September. I think you actually have to "purchase" the free games for them to show up though, unless you're just starting a new account, then they show up automatically..

The_Blog: Yeah i know that. Already "purchased it" ^^

Question to all of you
:

Just a random question. Do you think its ok to share your bought DRM Free games with Friends? I have a llot games on steam, some on gog and allot of drm free through bundles. So I quite have a larger library and I like to share them with friends when they wanna try a game they never heard of or something like that. Actually thats also one of my main motivations for DRM Free games.

What is your opinion about it?
Technically they are your games and you can do what you want with them as long as you don't try to sell digital copies. Morally, you should try to keep control of your copy. Have the friend purchase their own if they like the game.

I'm a loosely reformed pirate, so take that with a grain of salt.

arcusc: I'm already feeling nostalgic about this sale.
It feels like a lifetime ago that SS2 first appeared. Ahh, the good old days...

My opinion is to treat the games as physical object: They can only be played on one computer at a time.
Hats of to all GOGonauts who have been following the sale continuously with only short fitful bouts of sleep in between. I have been sleeping long healthy nights and doing my daily routines for the last few days, only checking the sales once in a while. I had everything I wanted for the sale 4 days ago, thanks to nightrunner227 who gifted me Thief 3 Deadly Shadows thus completing the GOGing of my previously steam-y Thief collection.
Missed the games I came for...so I made up for it by picking up a couple games that I didn't know I wanted.

Lurked in the background for days at a time, and I'm pretty sure that I died laughing. Thanks everyone for making this worth each and every second.

That's where I screwed up. I marked off ZZ56 as trolling since S227-CXJS-ZZ56 didn't work and the vague clues made me think codes where only 12 charatures long instead of 16.

kaileeena: Maybe I ll give it another try later, I just hate things that don't have a story (even if its a lame one)
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: To be honest, I prefer to have a solid story too, but I'm enjoying Giana Sisters so far. I played through the entire first stage, and everything looks very pretty. Just the gorgeous changing environment is worth playing the game, I think. I don't play a lot of platformers, so it's a bit hard for me at times, but I don't regret it.
There definitely ain't no story. But...it's a platformer! Mario platformers don't have much of a story.
For me, Giana Sisters is all about the eye candy. It's the best looking platformer after Rayman.

I generally don't do it. I share with bro if he doesn't already have the game, but GOG's prices are low and it's more convenient having it in your own library so we usually end up buying 2 copies. I'm not really a sharing person in general :P The main reason I get DRM-free is because I want to have some games I can actually play OFFLINE without having to use dubious cracks for my legitimate games. Plus, GOG was the only site I knew that actually had old games. Now Steam has some, but if I can, I get it from GOG instead. Newer games, depends on the price really and what kind of game it is, but yeah, if the price is comparable, I get it on GOG.

*Click, click, click, alt-tab, OH SHIT ALMOST MISSED THE ONE GAME I WAS WAITING FOR, k got it now, alt-tab, click, click, click, repeat ad nauseam*

LOL, yeah, it was kinda like that. I missed the freebies, but then, I would have anyway. Even fiberop won't save me in Canada... particularly the part of Canada I'm from...
