Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

CorranHorn: Are everyone aware of the games that are free (as in freeware) on GoG?
avatar
stan423321: There are four games which I think you get on the shelf by registering, and then there's the Warsow which you need to claim ("buy for free") for some reason and is an open source thing.
There are more than that, if you browse games and filter by price=free then you get a dozen games.

Oofles: I'm either too sensitive or not enough to find the last chunks. I can't tell if I'm over analyzing typos or what. @__@
avatar
mantarrochen: U should under any circumstance look out for underlined or bold occurences...
The U was an easy one. But there are also typos that anyone will spellcheck running should have caught.
avatar
kaileeena: Games I wanted and Got
Syberia
Jade Empire
Alpha Centauri
Beyond Good and Evil (although I ended uninstalling it today, didn't enjoy it much)

Impulse and is fun:
Theme Hospital

Impulse and hate it:
Giana Sisters
avatar
FudoMyo: Giana Sisters is amazing, and gorgeous to boot. Stick with it! Unless you hate platformers...
Maybe I ll give it another try later, I just hate things that don't have a story (even if its a lame one)

That's clear, but the other clues ain't so clear. xD If there are any more than that ofc....

Faenwulf: By the way guys: Is Psychonauts worth buying if you're not much of a platformer guy? (and have no Controller for your PC).

Was thinking buying the last game on sale would be a nice ending touch to my shopping spree of these last few days.
avatar
MGShogun: It's pretty nice game and I'm not much of a platformer guy. However..... some stages are tricky as hell. But I attributed this to my using the keyboard.

So I think this would work the best if you have the gamepad. Still, it's pretty neat game. I like it very much.
I completed it without a joypad - keyboard and mouse all the way.

One of the best games I've ever played.
avatar
Pabluzcu: But just wanted to point out that even at its normal price of 9 bucks, the game makes it up for every cent you may spend on it, even if it is not as insanely cheap as it was today.
avatar
mayfaire: Does it still hold up? I don't mean compared to today's stealth games because they're a different (some might argue worse) breed, but does it suffer at all from age, besides graphics?
For me, the answer is "hell no", I think it is a classic, I have played it again and again from time to time through the years until now.

Even now Im playing the first one, Thief Gold, just for the sake of it cause I got it here, and the older graphics as you say are somehow the thing to notice if you are young player that was not gaming in the 90s, but thats the only thing that may suffer the pass of time, to a certain degree. Cutscenes for example are a work of art, talking about graphics, that hasnt aged a damned bit

Gameplay is awesome and still awesom. Sound and music, awesome, and more awesome than some modern games I have played in fact. And the graphics, yeah, maybe older compared to the photorealistic stuff you can see nowaday in games, but the gameplay, sound, music and everything else is SO good, the art through the cutscenes.... only for that you deserve to play the first two games if you havent

Yarilo: did I? o:

kaileeena: Well not really stole ;) What is that avatar, all I can make out is some sort of fire in the back?
Oh, it's just the cover to my favorite album, "Во славу великим." Nothing special xd

MGShogun: Barbaric digital sale known to the mankind.

I wonder if Steam would replicate this sale? Highly doubtful. The kids on Steam lacks stamina and patience like us. :P
avatar
Faeja_Vu: I wouldn't want to see the forums for that sale... I couldn't imagine it being anything like this awesome place.
Let them keep the "AAA"'s, the DRM, the chest-high walls, the identical soulless FPS's, and the delusion that anything that came out before 2010 is worthy of pimply-faced half-witted contempt. Fuck them, they are neither needed nor wanted. Less people with better standards beats a mass of worthless drones any and every day of the week.

It is kinda risky to include intentional typos into a riddle, dohnt yuo thienk?
It's going to last well through today's release. I hope people will tune in to discuss the release and grab Psychonauts while at that.

Seriously. I can imagine that it will be very very very long ranty, angry, and pure flame war thread. :(
Gifting my freebie: The Book of Unwritten Tales

Would be cool if you had a spare Thief 2 key??? (Not required, though.)
Wanted to gift the trilogy to my friend, but overslept part 2 - like a lot of fellow sufferers :(

It's gone. See you the next time :)

To be honest, I prefer to have a solid story too, but I'm enjoying Giana Sisters so far. I played through the entire first stage, and everything looks very pretty. Just the gorgeous changing environment is worth playing the game, I think. I don't play a lot of platformers, so it's a bit hard for me at times, but I don't regret it.

justanoldgamer: Maybe it's a freebie that you thought you missed?
avatar
miszczu: Cool, It might be it.
But shouldn't I receive an email confirmation, lie for the other freebie I got?
I would guess so, but maybe not if there was a glitch stopping the game from appearing till now.
