Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

The end is nigh... But not so nigh...
The best thing about a sale like this, is you can get single games for a good price. The holiday sale, you end up with games you don't really want as part of some of the packages.

truhlik77: Everyone is talking about endings. Does this mean that Psychonauts are last game on whole sale?
Unless GOG does something out of sudden, yes. But GOG can do something out of sudden.

Probably. :p

Pabluzcu: I see a lot of people posting their sadness for not getting Thief 2.
...But if you really want to play the "Citizen Kane" of stealth games (if you follow my metaphorical equivalence in the history of cinema), you would not be paying an excesive price whatsoever at the 9.99$ Thief 2 normally has. Just saying...

mayfaire: I've only every played Thief 3 (not to completion... and on Xbox). Picked up the first two on disc a long time ago, never got around to playing them and now they won't run on my machine.

If I can't get Thief 2 now, I'll wait 'til the next time it crops up in a GOG sale. Bide my time like the stealth master.

...But you are tempting me. :p
No, of course, I know. Me too, I mean, I really wanted to get it at 2 bucks too, it was insanely cheap.

But just wanted to point out that even at its normal price of 9 bucks, the game makes it up for every cent you may spend on it, even if it is not as insanely cheap as it was today.
Oooh the first person has found the first hint to the fourth code snippet.

It's getinng hot in here. You might want to look for more clues though.

M1Labbe: Interestingly, GOG is offering a franchise bonus for buying all Thief games - for some reason it also offers it even though i already own part 1 and 3. This makes Thief 2 only $6.32. I'm really tempted, just to complete my library. STOP ME!!! Is the someone with an extra copy willing to gift it?
Yep, that's the way the franchise bonus works; even if you have all but one game left to buy, you'll still get the bonus. Nice, huh? :)
Games I got and wanted
La-Mulana, Icewind Dale, Thief Gold, Thief III, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, I have no mouth and I must scream, Resonance, Blackwell Bundle

Games I wanted and missed
Thief II, Expeditions: Conquistador

Impulse Buys
Wing Commander IV, Reus, Brutal Legend, Leisure Suit Harry, Greatest Hits, The Pit, Lords of Midnight

And there I was... sitting in a meeting, believing I would miss the END.
But in my worst hour I prayed to The Keane Himself to stall the Psychonauts. And so He did!

Thank you, oh Keane.
I fell asleep in the Keenage Pit and so my thief2 got robbed errr....

Any Thief 2 Spare Code for me?
The only gog keys i got left for trading is "Witcher 1" and realms of "arkania 1 + 2"

SpiderFighter: True, but eventually I'll be talking to myself in here as people leave. ;)

So, what was everyone's final damage?

Games I wanted and got:
Duke Nukem 3D
NWN1
NWN2
BG1
BG2

Games I bought on impulse:
Planescape: Torment
Icewind Dale

Games I was wanted, had in cart, but lost to glitches:
Ultima VII
Icewind Dale

Games I was sorely tempted by:
Witcher 2
Expeditions: Conquistador
Thief 1,2,3
Assassin's Creed
and a few others

Games I really wished had been on sale:
Quest for Glory 1-5
Here's a thought. What if GOG were to make the end of the year sale into a flash sale, only starting from the day after stuff yourself into a coma day? Clean up the messy spots, cut out the massive waits by dividing slow sellers into multiple chunks, and turn it into a true end of the year insomnia madness fest?
By the way guys: Is Psychonauts worth buying if you're not much of a platformer guy? (and have no Controller for your PC).

Was thinking buying the last game on sale would be a nice ending touch to my shopping spree of these last few days.
