Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

I thought you were waiting for the final list? :P

Yes, Damn You, GOG! *shakes fist at... something somewhere in the distance* :D

skeletonbow: They weren't old when they came out, they were new. :)
Obviously they were. :) But I mean they aren't new as of now. Nothing really new, IIRC those games were released about 6 years ago.

avatar
skeletonbow: They were all AAA titles at the time of release.
Maybe, but I do not remember that amount of media coverage, nor overall "lens flare" pouring from every pixel of those games, screaming "I'm AAA".

avatar
skeletonbow: Warcraft and Warcraft II wont run on modern Windows properly, I dunno about Warcraft III as I haven't ran it since Windows XP.
I cannot test my WC1/2 because I lend them to a friend, and he lend them to his friend and... You know. And that was even before I joined Armed Forces more than a decade ago. So I have not a slightest idea where they are.
As of WC3, I think I installed it on Vista for my... "relative" - I got confused with all that "cousins twice removed" stuff. Diablo 1/2 and Starctaft 1/BW worked there fine too.

avatar
skeletonbow: As for higher resolutions, that sort of thing generally is done as an option on game refreshes and is user configurable so people who want the authentic original game can have that pixelated experience and those who want something fresh and high res can have that too. Options are good.
No disagreement on other parts. :)
Options are good. When they are optional. That "new" content added to Space Rangers - one of my most favorite games, actually, is not optional. You can't turn it off. All you can do, if you don't like it - try to ignore it if you can.
As you said above (though I removed that part;)), we came to GoG to get classic games. Sometimes, when they "modified", it's like you buying La Gioconda, "modified" with moustache and monocle, painted from spray can.

avatar
skeletonbow: I think Warcraft II can hold its own for playability and replay value even to this day compared to a lot of stuff coming out now even. ;)
IMHO most modern games forget they should entertain us, instead acting all important, all serious, all "artsy" thing, giving us some pseudo-important nonsense, presented with "I are serious cat" facial expression, backed up by "this is art" or "we now important part of culture because we cover those topics in our games" stances from developers.

I read in an earlier post that the games that were free this round will be up for sale after this for their own last chance sale.
high rated
Well, before this party comes to an end it's time to say thanks to this great community and of course to GOG.com and all the developers who participated in this sale.
I was lurking in the background all the time (nearly) without posting anything. I was on GOG sometime before the show begun and kept my eyes and purse open until the infamous Jack K. lulled me to sleep.
The first round was exciting and also cruel. The List wasn't set up, you never knew what would be on offer.
I hoped to snatch a few of those classics all true gamers are speaking of but which I never played when they were new. And I wanted some new Indies for a small price.
May I dare to confess that I was hoping to get a game called Jack Keane 2: The Fire Within?
What a disappointment when I saw the price. Though I am an adventurous point and clicker the price tag was a bit too high for me. Especially as the game didn't receive rave reviews in the time before Keane (B.K.) - the reviews after Keane (A.K.) signal a turning point in history.

Memories....
Let this lurker again say thank you to all the party guests for lots of fun, their generosity, and the enlightenment (not only about good old games).
It was nice to see, that the unavoidable few trolls weren't fed and couldn't spoil the party.

Now it's time to play my new games and to prepare one or the other GA.
Oh, not to forget, I actually got 2 freebies, both for the same game and of course a game I already owned.

This sale will probably take up to a Keane.
if they announce a fourth round, who will stay? :-)

jfelsman: I read in an earlier post that the games that were free this round will be up for sale after this for their own last chance sale.
You misunderstood- the games that were up for free didn't disqualify them from Round 3- they already did show up in round 3 for their last chance not counting the freebies, and the list accounted for that :p

jfelsman: I read in an earlier post that the games that were free this round will be up for sale after this for their own last chance sale.
They've been interspersed with the rest of the 101 games. The free games all had their normal sale chance in the third round already.

Already happened. There's one thing left. That's it. Anything else is speculation.

ClaudioAGS: if they announce a fourth round, who will stay? :-)
If they go into a fourth round, I will personally go to Poland, hunt them down and lynch them, right in the middle of the marketplace, for everyone to cheer on! !! ;-D
So just to make sure I know who wants NWN1...

Who wants it?

2 parts of the code are already out, the third is still looking for a way to sneak in, but keep your eyes peeled!
This Keane ain't over yet!
