Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Minmataro: I didn't mean to start a controller vs Mouse debate... imo its just easier to play a shooter with a mouse. i mean all you are really doing with a FPS is laying a mouse pointer on a enemy and clicking. Once you adapt to that its almost like cheating.

However if you really love controllers, who am i to say otherwise? i didnt mean to start anything was just trying to be helpful.
That depends on the game, if it is a "sim" then you would most likely miss. If it´s a game with "hitscan" then yes you will hit the instant you press the mouse button. Most modern shooters on console seems to be using "hitscan" and also aimbot (I hate this, I would like to turn the bloody thing off).

rookie1: Has anyone else managed to activate the same product twice on Origin?
avatar
kklsid: I actually wouldn't be surprised if EA came up with that.

"Play now all games in 3D! All you have to do is buy a copy of the game for each eye!"
Like Occulus Rift? I have 2 Mirror Edge in my Origin Account

zlep: I've been rather impressed by its sales speed. I expected Sword of the Stars: The Pit to sell a good bit faster than Expeditions: Conquistador, but it's been very much the opposite. Clearly I've underestimated the lure of turn-based strategy. ^_^

justanoldgamer: From what I've seen in this sale, the time of the day a game is presented makes a difference on how strong it sells. I'm thinking that different time zones have different gaming tastes.
I think it's simply different time zones have different number of people. More people viewing the site = quicker sales.

Sorry to keep bringing up Steam, but if you go to http://store.steampowered.com/stats you can see how the number of people using Steam varies over the course of 24 hours. I imagine a similar pattern is reflected here.

keef0723: I had to PM? Oh well :) Thanks for the opportunity.

JoseWisemang: no, you were supposed to replace the "?" in the code with the the "?" in the phrase.
Feel bad cause you probably would have gotten it first :(
Don't worry. I didn't have it, I still don't have it, status quo :)

Knofbath: None of the games that use the Classic controller need the motion sensor, so you shouldn't be jumping around like that anyway.
No, but it is still physically connected to the Wiimote. That connection is what makes things feel awkward while gaming. The Wiimote essentially becomes a weight that restricts your free movement of the Classic Controller.
Does anyone know what games are still in the promo?

It does that to me. I was wondering why. I was confused a few times myself. :)

zlep: It does, but it has to be plugged into the wiimote to do that, just like the standard (non wireless) nunchuk. So your controller kind of has a heavy tail attached.

Can you show me one real gamer, who wants to jump around like an idiot. :D Maybe with one exception. A REAL Star Wars games. Not these Dance fuck-ups.
Please let Thief 2 be next... O_o

It's like a 3 ft cord on mine, just set it next to your legs or in your lap while you play, not that bad.

It still means you've lost your place in the thread, so you'll have to backtrack if you want to read all new posts, especially at busier times.
Freebie coming after this, then Thief 2.
