Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

iLiVeInAbOx: Ahahaha omg proxy mines! Playing that game drunk was also a lot of fun. My friends tried to gang up on my in an FFA.. after a while I noticed they had all put their controllers down :)
....You were probably a dirty cheatXor and always picked oddjob ;)

Minmataro: I didn't mean to start a controller vs Mouse debate... imo its just easier to play a shooter with a mouse. i mean all you are really doing with a FPS is laying a mouse pointer on a enemy and clicking. Once you adapt to that its almost like cheating.

However if you really love controllers, who am i to say otherwise? i didnt mean to start anything was just trying to be helpful.
I think it's all been good natured
Ok bored again. I have a copy of Just Cause 1 on Steam for someone.

That sounds interesting, I don't have that yet.

howardc007: Nice, better than warming things up with a fire or a cup of hot cocoa.
avatar
kklsid: Don't worry, there's always time for that afterwards.

Or how about warming things up with Lara Croft AT a fire holding a cup of hot cocoa?
Don't mind if I do

LOL! Man our main house rule was NO Oddjob allowed! Although when I picked Bond, oddjob's head was at the perfect height to get mowed down with the pkm :) (I think that's what the power weapon was called)

justanoldgamer: All this talk of controllers vs keyboard made me think of something: A device like the thumb joystick of the Wii would be great to replace WASD keys. Does a similar thing exist for PC?

Using WASD hurt my wrist now unless I support it on something at about the same height as the keys.
Despite the flak it gets as a "casual" system, I've always liked the nunchuk control of the Wii. It seems to be a more natural position for the hand which moving a character (or cursor) around the screen. Of course, the awkward D-pad and +/- buttons on the wiimote remove my good will, but still, the nunchuk thumbstick is good.

Knofbath: The Wiimote is Bluetooth, so it could work if you can split the configs like that.
I did not know that. Yep, GOOGLE has several link on using the wiimote with a PC. Thanks.

I remember having to use a program called GlovePIE to best configure a Wiimote for PC use. The actual program worked well, it was just awfully awkward to use the controller in a standard computer setup.

It's even worse if you use a Classic Controller connected to it. Then you have to deal with the remote weighing down the controller and making more intense gameplay feel unruly.

My roommate and I hung a sheet from the ceiling splitting the screen. Of course you had to play 3 player and face the third facing the wall. My favorite was pistols in the basement. 4 players with proximity mines was chaos.

I use a Razer Nostromo. Gives you that nice WASD keys in a keypad device that curves at the base. even has a D-pad and can be macroed. I combo it with a razer Naga epic.

The classic controller was just supposed to use the Wiimote as a wireless adapter I thought.

Lets see if I can remember my favorites..

Power weapons in the temple.
Proxy mines in the control center (or is that the basement?)
Rockets in the complex - This one was probably my favorite since we played license to kill. Shoot a rocket at the wall and bam on the other side:)!
