Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

kklsid: So, since it's so cold and dark outside, why not warm things up a little with %ara ?roft?

Nice, better than warming things up with a fire or a cup of hot cocoa.

Ninlil: Don't know how it works, but here a xpadder profile to play Thief gold with a xbox controller, created by the user alfx3 on ttlg.com: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142533

AndyDivine79: I don't have a 360 and I'm sure my girlfriend would "aggro" if I suggest we go buy one. I have a logitech dual shock. If that doesn't work I'm outta luck.
360 controllers are available in a wired configuration that's plug-and-play on most PCs. Wireless 360 controllers need a wireless adapter because it doesn't use default wireless protocols.

PS3 controllers work well if you get a tool called "Better DS3", it's basically a wrapper for the Motioninjoy PS3 drivers except without the ads. I think it works with both Bluetooth and USB connections.

I've got an ancient Logitech Dual Action, basically a USB PS2 controller knockoff without the rumble that works fine as well.

Minmataro: Dude... Do yourself a favor and practice playing shooters with a mouse and keyboard. after a couple days you will never, ever want to use a controller for FPS again. Seriously.

mkess: I would never ever play any shooter without mouse. Why should I punish myself, and play with one hand bound to my back -- metaphoricaly speaking. You need auto-aim, if you play with controllers.

Otherwise the mediocre PC-Shooterplayer will bust the best konsoleplayers. I can set headshoots faster, than you would believe it, with using a mouse. Changing weapons is a breeze with keyboard, too ;)

That is the reason, why these playergroups will seldom play in multiplayergames together. As example in Defiance I was from the beginning in the top ten list during arc raids, despite the fact, that I was a total newbie. A because of critical hits I made.
The group I used to hang with played lots of Bond 007. House rules were no auto-aim, -4 health. I was pretty damned good with that N64 controller.
All this talk of controllers vs keyboard made me think of something: A device like the thumb joystick of the Wii would be great to replace WASD keys. Does a similar thing exist for PC?

Using WASD hurt my wrist now unless I support it on something at about the same height as the keys.
And while we're on the subject of things to wear on your head....

Don't worry, there's always time for that afterwards.

Or how about warming things up with Lara Croft AT a fire holding a cup of hot cocoa?

Goldeneye was definitely a bad ass game back then. I only played license to kill :) The best was doing that and slappers only!

The Wiimote is Bluetooth, so it could work if you can split the configs like that.
I really should sleep, but I refuse to let GOG beat me out of Thief 2

Ahahaha omg proxy mines! Playing that game drunk was also a lot of fun. My friends tried to gang up on my in an FFA.. after a while I noticed they had all put their controllers down :)

you know it's going to be last right?
What I don't get is, why keyboards still don't have any kind of alternative to modern gamepad analogue sticks. The mouse basically replaces the left analogue stick, for aiming or camera control ( and arguably does a better job at it ), but for movement control you are stuck with, what... 6+ digital keyboard keys? And even then you still don't get the full 360 degree motion + speed control of a gamepad stick, which also tends to have an extra function ( like crouch ) if you "click" it. Are there gaming keyboards which do have similar features?
I didn't mean to start a controller vs Mouse debate... imo its just easier to play a shooter with a mouse. i mean all you are really doing with a FPS is laying a mouse pointer on a enemy and clicking. Once you adapt to that its almost like cheating.

However if you really love controllers, who am i to say otherwise? i didnt mean to start anything was just trying to be helpful.

BTCentral: Well, I thought I'd done my final give-away but realised I had another code.

This really is the last one, Gotham City Impostors: Professional Kit (Steam)

To get it, simply tell be the first to tell me the name of the female Rogue companion character in Dragon Age: Origins!
No one wants it then, haha?
