Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

CharlesGrey: So, are there any potential Keanes left now? I reckon Thief 2 will go swiftly. Psychonauts is pretty much a cult classic, too. Not sure about Spellforce... Does anyone remember the prices for these? I think it was about $2.50 for Psychonauts.

smileytorist: •Psychonauts $2.49
•Spellforce Platinum $2.49
•Thief 2: Metal Age $1.99
Only issue I see with Psychonauts is that its also on the mac mix pack for 3.99

Spinorial: You might be better off trying Thief 3 then, as it was made with consoles in mind. Thief II might work, but it has quite a lot of keybinds and finding the optimal ones to fit on a controller might be tricky.

AndyDivine79: But......I must buy more games.....I must buy more games. :) I'll give it a try. Seems like most people prefer II.

slave138: I bought a gift copy of The Pit but the code is just showing dashes (---) and it will not redeem. Any suggestions?

BTCentral: Try: https://secure.gog.com/account/refresh
Then check again.
No luck - still just showing dashes (both here and in the re-sent email)

Rarehunter_idol: I've got a question about the DnD RPGS like Planescape and Icewind Dale.

How easy is it to get hopelessly stuck in those games? What I mean by that is, how easy is it for a Dungeons & Dragons mechanics novice to screw up any character builds to the point where you can't progress any further? I remember people saying how easy this was to do in Dragon Age, which is the main reason i ended up quitting due to the stress of putting skills and points into things...

I'm thinking of starting Planescape soon is all!
I also am a D&D newbie, and recently played Baldur's Gate 2. By my third character, and 4 hours of playing time, i think I got it right.... At least I can hit stuff now

$1.50 more expensive there.

Spinorial: As do I. But most people also prefer controllers stay the hell away from their PCs :P
Controllers are great for certain games. I use them for driving games (that dont have wheel support), Fighting games, combo base action games like Devil May cry and really, really bad console ports like Dark Souls.

mondo84: Will this thread hit 40,000 posts before the end of the sale??

CorranHorn: Nice list, to bad System Shock 1 isn´t on GoG, that one is a classic, remember reading about it and back then I didn´t own a PC=).
Thanks :) I wasn't planning on buying so many.. I haven't played either of the System Shock games so we'll see!

As long as you follow the rule of putting your ability scores high in your class' prime attributes, you should be fine. This means high STR, DEX, and CON for warriors, high DEX and INT for mages, high DEX and WIS for priests/druids, and high DEX and CON for thieves.

For Planescape, the best strategy is to go with high WIS and INT no matter your class, as this opens up a ton of convo options. I'd recommend reading a non-spoiler guide if you're nervous about it.

Depends on the game, some of them are console ports that are clearly designed for a controller, others are just a mess to play with one.

AndyDivine79: Thanks. I think I will give it a shot.

Ninlil: Don't know how it works, but here a xpadder profile to play Thief gold with a xbox controller, created by the user alfx3 on ttlg.com: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142533
I don't have a 360 and I'm sure my girlfriend would "aggro" if I suggest we go buy one. I have a logitech dual shock. If that doesn't work I'm outta luck.

I wonder how well the PC + Mac Mix Pack sale did... it ends in about 10 minutes! :)
