Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

moochorama: Thanks! I searched their store, it's not in there (maybe not yet). I'm going to keep checking.

vanchann: I bought Bastion twice. As a weekly sale and later as part of a bundle.
Humble Bundle doesn't add codes for second copies. So that I could send one to you. :-(

Anyway their version of DRM-free Bastion had a problem with texts. There weren't text descriptions for items in game and levels were shown by the files' names!

I boycott Steam too.
That doesn't sound good. :/ Did they fix it?
Alright this is exciting. I'm running out of batteries (8%) remaining, I forgot my charger, and Sword of Stars has 13 copies left!

jackster79: I was so happy when TMNT's arcade game made it to the SNES as TMNT4. That meant I could work on it without quarters! :-)

The Simpson's one though - that one always surprised me in that it was never ported to any of the systems AFAIK, and I was majorly disappointed about that. Would like to play that one again on the PC.

stevieknix: Simpson's games.
Bart in Dreamland, I think that was the title, where you had to collect the six pages for his report.

Bart vs. the Space Mutants. I remember that one, the X-Ray specs.
wait wait wait... bart vs the mutants... was that the one where you had to spraypaint the pink stuff..
May or may not have spent an entire summer between that and megaman games.
I wonder after such a long wait w/ Sword of the Keane: The Pit, if we get numerous FREEBIES! :D

MysterD: Oh, yeah - X-Men Arcade was good, back in the day.
I also remember TMNT and Simpsons arcade beat 'em ups, as well.

And of course, DOUBLE DRAGON! Back in the day, I loved to use that elbow move, hehe.

The Simpsons arcade game was mercifully released on the PSN. I'd love to have a PC version, though.

You should blame her for what you've become! She drove you to the Gaming world with that attitude and now you're stuck with us... LOL

I think it's on the PS3/360 online stores. They were releasing lot of old school arcade games like that for about 3-4 months straight.

darrel: Just wanted to say hello to all.. Been watching the thread since sale almost..!
Hi , welcome , glad you're here.

howardc007: Yes, the power glove for the NES. I forgot want game you can use it for, but it looked really cool at the time.
avatar
Kaitu: Okay... Pop quiz (NO CHEATING): Who can name the movie that featured the Power Glove in a whopping one scene and also served as the one of the first glimpses of Super Mario Brothers 3?

EDIT: Looks like someone already mentioned it. Having trouble keeping up with the posts. :-p
I love the Power Glove...it's BAD!
Come on Keanes Pit. I need a quiver of water arrows!!!

HunterZ: Mouse for aiming. Even a decent flight stick isn't accurate enough, based on my testing almost a year ago.
avatar
Infin8ty: I've typically heard two sides: joystick because it's a 6DoF and it's what you *should* play 6DoF's with and then M&K because of improved precision since it is an FPS. I only have an old joystick that's somewhat questionable and I don't think I'll be buying a new one anytime soon (I don't play enough flight sims or such that really require it). Oh well, I'll probably just go M&K, accuracy is always good, I got used to 6DoF controls with M&K while playing the X games.
I got a joystick for xmas 2012 because I finally reached critical mass on space sims (Wing Commander, Freespace, X, etc.), and gave it a try with Descent to see how it felt.

... And it just wasn't accurate enough. Descent doesn't really have any randomness in its aiming for shooting, so your combat accuracy is pretty much limited only by your manual dexterity and choice of input device.
Ahhh... the good ol' keaning.... How did I missed it when Jade Empire and Garrett the Thief, these blasphemous flashing speedsellers, looked around earlier this day to say "Hello" and then vanished as quick as they appeared... Yes, I've really missed it. And I will really miss it when The PIT.................... IS FINALLY GONE!!! :D
