Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Dreadjaws: Precisely what I tend to do here on GOG, except for indies and such. Heck, I bought Deus Ex despite already having two copies, exclusively for the extras.
avatar
MysterD: Deus Ex 1 is great. :D
Wanna have it >.< I sadly missed the sale :/
And I asekd but it looks like nobody got a copy for gifting or trading.

soiram: Lurking in this thread for a while! Very entertaining, while waiting for next game to show up!

After a previous comment, I checked Dungeons of Dredmor and decide to give it a try. I got a Steam key which I'm giving away!

Awesome, got it! Been curious about this one for quite some time, thanks :D
Dumb Question but what games are still left? I went back several pages to see if it's been posted but this thread is soooo long it's impossible to search

Khalaq: We used to do timed runs of Adventure on the 2600. Too bad I don't have a working system or the family could still enjoy it. They really knew how to make games, back then....
avatar
wanderlust76: Hahah I never did finish Adventure now that you mention it. Now there's something to put on my bucket list lol.
I'm referring to the old graphic adventure game on the 2600, not the older text adventure which was also known as The Colossal Cave.

Minmataro: How many of you guys are actually new to PC gaming? Like you made the jump from this generation console (360,PS3) to PC and now are just discovering the classic on GoG?

I ask because a lot of the questions and "look what i bought" lists are of games that anyone gaming the last 5-10 years probably has or had.

Im not trying to say anything bad just kind of curious.

bew1977: For me I missed some classics like BG&E, saw some sim games I hadn't played before and some rebuys for games messed up or lost over years of moving.
Ooooh, BG&E is great.
Already got it on Steam, some years ago.

Not new to PC gaming, but couldn't afford to buy many games in the past, still can't in a way, and lost past games too, or had to borrow a lot of them... Plus my computers have been shit, to top it all off. :)

OK. This is the last thing I'm doing before I go to bed, though.

I'll see if I can pop back in, later, to finish off the sale.

TwistedFate: Bear in mind a lot of people may be replacing games they had years ago, not buying them for the first time.

I got the original boxed U.S. GOTY Edition from a second hand shop years ago. It comes with a soundtrack CD. Epic classic!
For me there's a lot of classic games that I missed back in the day. Once upon a time I couldn't afford to buy more than one or two $80 games a year. Most games of the 90s I only ever played demos of. Later on it wasn't worth chasing down a second hand copy of a game that was a) out of date and b) not guaranteed to even work any more. Then along came digital distribution...

stevieknix: What was the name of the woman you fight? I think she was the first summoner, the daughter of the guy who created Sin.
avatar
Dinasis: Yunalesca perhaps?
Yeah, cause Yuna is named after her.

She was a pain in the arse. Kept casting status ailments on my party. In the end I only had one character alive, Tidus, who was blind, confused, and poisoned. He had almost no health left.
It was his turn and if he attacked her and missed he would die, either because of the poison or her attack. If he attacked himself he's die.
He attacked, hit her, and she died. To win when i was so close to being defeated, cannot begin to describe how relieved I was after that battle.
