Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

howardc007: Give it to the person who provides you with the best movie one-liner that explains why the person should get the code.

Solid Dirty Harry reference.

Every single freaking Freebie, That's what LOL! It's not a big deal though, just frustrating or funny really. There was a post earlier today that perfectly summed it up; something to the tune of "I cannot believe I can't get one of these freebies of games I either already have or don't really care about playing, but I want my freebies" LOL. Says it all!

Sacred Gold (was away), System Shock 2 (paypal funds arrived right after the sale ended), Balur's Gate 2 (I think i slept through it), Master of Orion (see SS2), HoM&M5 (same) and a few unimportant titles

I'm way slow. That makes 0 for 45 or whatever number I'm up to, now. (What I lack in speed, I make up for in persistence.)

Apparently Thief 3 escaped me when I left to take a pee :)

Alien8n: Usually yes, but I think FFVII is old enough now they could probably get away with it. Failing that take the battle system from FFVII and do a proper sequel. I played the PSP prequel and they used so much of the playing style from the later games that for me it didn't seem connected to VII

Knofbath: Crisis Core's problem was the platform as much as the battle system. Missions were based off the need to have short playable bites for handheld players. The problem was that the missions were boring and repetitive.
And yet the ports of the earlier FF games to the PSP worked really well. Add to that the fact the PSP could play full PS1 games without a problem and the issue clearly isn't the handheld console but the people writing the games for it. There's a similar problem with IOS games, everyone is making games solely for the casual gamer, there are very few games for the more hardcore gamer. And what there is tends to be priced at a ridiculous price point. Square Enix is certainly the most guilty here pricing the ports of FFIV and V at GBP10.99 and III is GBP11.99. For games that old and where indie developers are matching them for content at less than half that price.

Thank goodness for GoG I say :)

...no worries...if Thief 2 will be up next, I'll be happy...this has got to end!

Derwisch: Yeah I know.. the time of the good Square Games ( Chrono Cross, Bushido Blade, Tobal 2, FF VII, Brave Fencer Musashi, Einhänder, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics ) was the PS One ( and of course the Games on SNES )
everything after that was Soulless in my opinion !

Knofbath: FFX wasn't bad, or FFXII for that matter. 10's storyline had an annoying MC, but the battle system was interesting. XII I didn't care as much for the Gambit system, I could roll through battles on autopilot most of the time.
I don't get why people don't just turn the gambits off if they dislike the game playing itself. Besides, customising the gambits is part of the gameplay.
Missed BG2. Fortunately I got everything else I was looking for (and quite a bit I wasn't looking for...hehehe)
