Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

If someone buys a gift copy of Sword of the Stars I will also gift a copy of http://www.desura.com/games/astro-emporia
Yeah ... OK The Resident Evil One Remake was a really Good One ! I give you that !

Derwisch: Yeah I know.. the time of the good Square Games ( Chrono Cross, Bushido Blade, Tobal 2, FF VII, Brave Fencer Musashi, Einhänder, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics ) was the PS One ( and of course the Games on SNES )
everything after that was Soulless in my opinion !
FFX wasn't bad, or FFXII for that matter. 10's storyline had an annoying MC, but the battle system was interesting. XII I didn't care as much for the Gambit system, I could roll through battles on autopilot most of the time.

I bought a copy

Shadowcat: Wow. Jade Empire and Thief Gold must have sold like the proverbial warmed-through cakes.
avatar
Khalaq: Jade Empire, 900 copies in four minutes.
Thief Gold, 600 copies in three minutes.
Our meagre minds can only comprehend the true glory of the Keaning if we have an extreme to compare it with. ^_^

DrRoxo: NOOOOOOOO!!!
Three days of waiting, three nights of patiently refreshing and not sleeping and I fall asleep right before Jade Empire :'( Is this hell? ;_;
I can't believe I did that same thing! I fell asleep during Legacy of Kain. It wasn't right after that was it? That would annoy me since I was going to wait and see what came next before officially giving up. I missed Deus Ex the same way and I'd better not miss Thief 2 the same way.

...Someone said Jade is on sale at Steam so I'll buy it there.

Ah, I already PM the code to someone earlier. I have no way to prove so nevermind then

Knofbath: I'm tired of remakes, I played the hell out of FFVII already. Give us some new games with familiar battle systems. Eye candy is nice, but rehashing old storylines is boring.
avatar
Alien8n: Usually yes, but I think FFVII is old enough now they could probably get away with it. Failing that take the battle system from FFVII and do a proper sequel. I played the PSP prequel and they used so much of the playing style from the later games that for me it didn't seem connected to VII
Crisis Core's problem was the platform as much as the battle system. Missions were based off the need to have short playable bites for handheld players. The problem was that the missions were boring and repetitive.

OMG - I totally forgot! A real looker, imho....shhhhhh, don't tell my wife (still shocked she in part came from Steven Tyler!!!!)

KMJX: Okay peoples.
I have one spare copy

Neverwinter Nights : Diamond Edition

to give out. There is a problem though:

- I don't want to put it up for ninja grabs
- My imagination right now is suffering from tiredness, so I have no idea what to do about the giveaway
- it has to be in this thread, it Keane't be any other way.

Any ideas?
Give it to whomever has the saddest story about missing the sale?
I don't know if the GOG version suffers the same way, but apparently the Steam "special edition" of Jade Empire is haywire: http://steamcommunity.com/app/7110

Rarehunter_idol: So I'm prepared for when it comes up, what is Expeditions: Conquistador like?
I know little about it beyond the game page, but would be great for somebody who loves games like Civ and games with some interesting decision-making?
avatar
keef0723: Would like to know this too.
I haven't played it very long, a couple hours. Most people seem to enjoy it more than I did.

I think what it's like is basically, you pick a party with certain skills, each of which helps with various random events that happen while they travel a map.

You can buy a few things - weapons, supplies - and then move around the map on quests, with those events that deplete your supplies. As you run out, you can't win a battle, you can't feed your group, they revolt and leave.

It has a Heroes of Might and Magic type feel in ways, especially the battles.

I found it a bit hard, and just not that much fun, you know when there's a game design that says 'hey people love this and that in Heroes, so they'll love it here'. So I'd say it's worth a try, especially on this sale price, but not great.
