Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

nijuu: Im actually wondering why the sale for SOTS The pit is so slow?. not exactly as if its been bundled at all (as far as i think), and its a pretty good roguelike game as well (havent tried the DLCs though)
It's been bundled a few times and it might currently be in one at the moment I think. I have it from the Starry Nights Bundle from the summer.
I thiink Keane dug The Pit, climbed into The Pit, and is currently sleeping soundly in The Pit, oblivious to all the trouble he's causing!

Knofbath: GoG runs them on a first-come, first-serve basis, even with 2 second polling there's little chance for us overseas people to see and react in time to beat the people who are closer.

Alien8n: Exactly my point, for anyone to score multiple copies there must be some other factor that gives then an unfair advantage. It could simply be their location, and that could be enough to win it for them, but factor in location and a little web coding experience and you have an instant no lose scenario. Personally I think they should ditch first come first served and have a "click pot". The free button is active for 10 seconds, for that 10 seconds if you click on it your click goes in a pot, but only one click so anyone scripting gains zero advantage. After the 10 seconds are up it picks the winners from the pot at random and emails the lucky people their code to either redeem or share as they see fit. Anyone receiving multiple freebies are then genuinely lucky.
Or just have a 1~2 per account limit. That's a lot simpler.

Alien8n: Either there's massive scripting going on (and we know some people were doing that)

jamotide: No we don't. All we know is, that it is possible to modify the way the browser displays the fade out effects, which gives you zero advantage.
Oh and I know I got 9 freebies just by clicking once after expiry, I was here maybe 1/5th of the time of the sale.
You're proof of my point though, there's something else affecting the chances of winning. Seriously if you won 9 freebies join the space program, there's a better chance of you walking on the moon. The odds are that astronomical.
Is The Pit worth grabbing at that price sans the DLC, or should I just hold off for a future sale of the Gold edition?

Xiko91: Whenever I read Keane in here the bald head of Kane from the Command and Conquer series comes to my mind.

"Kane Lives"
I've got a present for you. *EXPLOSION*

Hard to implement.

EX-Deimon: Are you quoting an post of mine I posted hours ago?

kaileeena: I blame gog forums, for some reason when I post, it returns to a page which is like hours ago!! which happened to be on your post. Sorry for that
Isn't that so annoying! I've lost count of the dead conversations that I've accidentally replied to hours later...

wanderlust76: Was Thief Gold and HOMM3 sold in sequence? That's lame they should have put a Keaner like sword of stars in between them a lot of people were just getting settled in for the night when those other 2 sold. Now we get stare at this game the entire evening with nothing to look forward to.
Not consecutively if i remember rightly. Also there was 1050 copies of HoMM3

I might be interested in Expeditions: Conquistador, but there's no demo... :(

Less than price of a coffee. neither DLC has been discounted *yet*
Sword of the Stars: The Pit is the Don't Starve/Hotline Miami of today :-)

zlep: In another thread (on that topic) The Enigmatic T suggested that not everyone who's said they'd scored multiples actually *has*. Apparently GOG has been checking for accounts winning a surprising amount of freebies to ensure that the system isn't being abused by scripts. The user TET checked had claimed in the forums to have won tonnes, but actually hadn't won any. He also said GOG has no evidence of scripts in use, but is looking into it.

Of course, I daresay some people have won multiples, and that there probably are unfair factors at play somewhere, but it seems some of the reported wins may be nothing but trolling...

UncleOvid: Lying? On the Internet? I don't believe it.
I must admit my nature is to trust until shown no reason to trust, and the group on here do seem to be better than your usual forum fodder. But then again I have seen a few posts which make you think BS
