Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

For those who are holding out till the end of the sale, the last game will probably be a 1000 copies of Jack Keane 2 as a freebie :P, and even then I won't be able get a free game from this promo.

stevekharon: Anyone know if Psychonauts is enjoyable with a xbox 360 controller (I have one) ?
Looks like the kind of game I would like to play from a distance on the couch.
I think it works much better with a controller. I've played it on PC with the m+k combo and it was fine but I think it would be much better.

DrLoboto: It's the best way to play it, I wouldn't want to attempt the Meat Circus level without a controller.
avatar
Knofbath: I hated the meat circus.

I really wish there was a way to play certain levels without going through the rest of the game.
Know what you mean. I played through the entire game up to Meat Circus using keyboard & mouse. Ended up rage quitting half way through and bought a controller just to finish the level. Don't regret it for one moment though. Classic funny Schafer game that really needs a sequel.

Damn, this forum moves too fast for me, I'm out. Cheers guys.

jjsimp: So, is that everything but Jack Keane 2?
haha, just about. May that title be forever known a the "keaning incident"

Minmataro: The pit is a very good game, just remember if you do buy it, pick up the DLC upgrade for 2.99. it adds a whole mess of content to it.
Adding to what Minmataro said, you need the first DLC (MindGames) to play with a 360 controller. I have played with and without, and for me I find it much more enjoyable to use a 360 controller. This is my personal preference, but wanted to mention it just in case it matters to those interested as well.

Edit: I was corrected that the base game was patched to allow for the 360 controller to be used, and that MindGames is not needed for that.

Sorry for any confusion I caused.

Knofbath: The servers are in Poland, most of the people having good luck with freebies are European.
Do we factually, like, know that they're in Poland, or are you extrapolating from CDP being Polish?

mudd1: I think my last reply didn't come through. I'd really find it a nice gesture if there was some kind of surprise at the end of the sale. Ideally some great game that wasn't up before :) Alternatively a freebie that people outside the US can also get.
avatar
UncleOvid: You mean outside of Europe. The Americans are the ones complaining about getting stiffed in the free grabs.
Apparently you are right. While there are many IP addresses involved the probably most important "GET /insomnia/getcurrentoffer" request goes to a server that appears to be located in London. The Channel isn't exactly the Atlantic Ocean so I'm surprised I didn't get lucky so far :/

Try to ping gog.com. I have 4ms ping. This makes it very probable that servers are in Poland

+1 xD
I had five games on my wishlist before this promo started (I'd already bought most other games I wanted from the GOG catalogue); I just realised I've bought 20 during the sale and added another five games to the wishlist. How did that happen?

So what did we have since Duke?

Well, based on the ping tests people were posting earlier, it is fairly safe to assume that the servers are at least somewhere in central/eastern Europe, if not Poland itself.

edit: guess I was wrong, someone says London xd

Dreadjaws: UNEXPECTED BRÜTAL LEGEND GIVEAWAY TIME!

After losing the opportunity several times, I snagged a copy for me in the last chance, and another one to give away.

Here's the key:

72??-GJWF-P54W-T8FY

Replace ?? for the initials of THIS webcomic.
I somehow managed to grab that finally. Ninjas getting pwned! For once, lol.

Thanks a bunch! :D
