Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea

UncleOvid: Hope so. I tend to really like roguelikes, so I'm feeling optimistic.

mkell_226: Then you'll be glad to know it's Shameless Plug time again!

You can get a free copy of a fun old Sci-Fi Rogue-Like, "Jaunttrooper: Mission Thunderbolt" either by writing the author at megacorp@aol.com or sending me a PM here!

And vote it up on the wishlist: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/jaunttrooper_mission_thunderbolt

If you email the author, please encourage him to submit the game here, as it would make a great freebie and he doesn't seem interested in getting any money from it anymore.
Noted. I will definitely look that up.

Actually, you know what would be rad? If GOG could put out the Shiren the Wanderer series. It'll never happen, obviously, but I'd love a legit copy.

Professor_Cake: Although I spent a significant amount of money on this sale, I view it from a perspective of good value (or 'bang for your buck' as some would term it). For the around the price of a single major new release, I have managed to purchase 29 games (including the Mac sale ones), many of which are considered to be some of the best games of all time together with some excellent contemporary releases. I don't think I'll be bored for a while.
Wow.. very nice! Enough gaming for multiple years... but we all know you are going to buy more ;-)

mudd1: I'm feeling cheated! :) http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/dancing_bear has +36 upvotes and is on the first page when sorting by "most upvoted this week" while the Don't Crash wish isn't, despite being only hours old and having +41 upvotes. GOG is suppressing this issue. They don't want to face the truth! THEY WANT TO SILENCE US! ... Ok, or maybe we just learned something about the non-realtime nature of that sorting ;)

Ungunbu: it's not that easy you know
Well, there are about 15k items ATM. Running an O(n log n) algorithm on that kind of list more often than every few hours or whatever shouldn't be that hard, even for such a busy machine as our poor forum server (even though the wishlists seem to run on a different machine). Maybe it would even be practical to use some kind of O(n) sorting since it's only numbers. Heck, one could even argue that you could run a one-pass bubble sort every time someone upvotes, starting from the element that was upvoted, since it ignores at least all elements that weren't touched this week (probably a large fraction of the total number) although that might actually become a real problem when the site grows since it's hard to parallelize.
Anybody have a spare copy of the following?
Myst: Masterpiece Ed
Alpha Centauri
Don't Starve

I don't have any games left to trade, but I can flip you some $$$ on PayPal or something. Somehow I have managed to miss all 3 of these this whole sale.
