Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Totally lurked this forum during the promo, and along with 20 some odd new games added to my collection, I was also thoroughly kept entertained by everyone that trudged thru some very long, very sleepless nights and day. Thanks to all of you for making this a rather one-of-a-kind experience. Hope to be a fly on the wall next time we all sit up 36 hours straight waiting on a 15-20 year piece of treasure to appear on the front page. Take care, everyone! ^^

miszczu: Damn, did i missed Jade Empire?
avatar
MaximumBunny: Afraid so. It went fast.
Well, till the next promo then. :/

darthslyguy: Actually, Sakaguchi left Square shortly after X-2 was finished, his last projects there were Kingdom Hearts, XI, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and X-2 (in order).
avatar
Shendue: Nah, i checked again. He indeed was listed as Executive Producer, but in fact he himself said the last game he was (partly) actively involved in was FFX. About FFX-2, he is formally credited as producer, but in fact he merely took care of some parts of the localization. Mind that FFX-2 was produced after the infamous Spirits Within, so Sakaguchi already was in bad terms with the company.
Ya he was well on his way out during the production of FFX-2. Can you honestly blame him after what they did to what was effectively *HIS* franchise. The last game he played any sort of creative role in was XI and VII as far as I am aware though. Hes had a producer or supervisor cap on for most everything else since FFVII.
Please let the next one be thief 2 so I can to bed :) ^^

I think GOG should reward people who stay till the end with some special game that hasn't been seen before. Or at least a freebie that you can actually get outside the US.
Anyone have an extra BG2? I have Planescape or Witcher 1 to trade for it.
Bother... Just worked out what I had spent on this sale, and I have gone $4 over my gaming budget, now my wife is going to get annoyed at me :-S

foxworks: Well, I think I have snagged everything from this sale of interest. During my prison sentence (aka sitting at the computer), I managed to snag a few extras along the way. They are:

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition
Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri™
Theme Hospital
Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings
Jade Empire: Special Edition
Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition

If you're still needing something you missed, PM me. Might be able to work something out. I hope others fared well during this exhaustive sale.

Phew
Go see my list:

mudd1: Now even Youtube is broken. What's up, Internet?!
It's not just me then. Jade Empire and Thief Gold 'literally' broke the internet.
I did get Youtube working a few minutes ago finally.
