Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Faenwulf: Sacred Gold and Nexus.
avatar
KMJX: Never owned Nexus... not until this sale that is.
Come on, now you're even ignoring the hints that had already been figured out.

OOOH BIG HINT IN THIS PAGE
Sacred Gold we know. You fell asleep after Eador, and BG2 was two games after that, so I'm betting you missed that one too. I know you got Nexus and the Neverwinters, and I'm betting that one of those is the code you're giving out. You'd missed Thief 2 earlier, but someone traded it to you (for the Nexus code, I think.)

Based on the list, it shouldn't be HOMM5, you bought Evoland, and I'm pretty sure you were here for Tropico 3.

I'm going with Sacred and BG2 for now, but I'm still digging.

bringthemback: Sacred Gold & Thief 2? :P
avatar
KMJX: Actually, I will miss Thief 2 on purpose, since one of my extras was asked in trade for it.

Has everyone given up, or are they all digging deep in the nearly 32'000 posts of this thread?
Page 1550 should be as far as you need to go look for my posts, since hints have been repeated a couple times (except the post that says which games in this promo I own on discs. Additionally, I came to the sale at the start of the third and final round, so there's some narrowing down for everyone)
Sacred and Soul reaver?
avatar
Stooner: Perhaps Sacred and NWN Diamond
avatar
KMJX: You should know the answer to this one yourself.

All the hints you need to figure the answer out are in this thread, and most of them are repeated in relatively recent posts
Jack Keene 3: The Answer Is Staring You In The Face
The List: Edit / Copypasta / ETERNITY

What do I win?
avatar
UncleOvid: Eh, you don't have to do that here either.
avatar
BananaJane: We ALL HAD to
Erm... no, we didn't have to. I did so because it was fun and I enjoyed joking around while waiting for another game (that I would probably not buy, since I had the most sought after games in this sale already in my GOG shelf). I'm just hoping people aren't taking this sale too seriously... it's just games. And it's not like the full price GOG asks for them is all that ridiculous, it's actually way fair.

I say take it easy, enjoy the community, buy a game or two if you can, but don't worry about it too much. I bought only a few titles I was curious about and thought I might as well try them, given the cheap price. Otherwise I would never have bought and played them.

tvzz000: is gog in trouble? are they going out of business? this sale seems like a fire sale
avatar
groze: I don't think so, GOG and its parent company, CD Projekt, are fine and healthy, as far as I know. They just like to spoil their community with sales like this every once in a while. I'm guessing it's probably because they wanted to have a Fall sale but with the Christmas sale approaching, they chose this flash sale format. Then again, it could be a whole number of reasons, I'm bad at that kind of thing (economics and PR and commerce, etc).

I do think, however, GOG is doing just fine. If they were in trouble of any kind I'm positive they'd let us know.
Not to mention they just recently advertised for open positions at their site in Poland, so I cannot imagine they would be hiring if they were going under.

ToxicCosmos: oo, what game would this be?
avatar
Devoidless: If we are talking about King of Dragon pass, it all about choices. Your choices. Something happens, and you get a list of options to go after. You also need to decide if you want to focus on trade, exploration or fighting the other tribes. It's a great game full of lovely art, music and story.
I just bought it because the art looked cool and it is also $1.49 ;-)
avatar
Cardian: Have my guesses been all wrong then?
avatar
KMJX: Yes, they have all been wrong. If it's any consolation, you're the closest one so far, barring the guy who decided to just post every game I stated as missing from my collection earlier.
Why are you the closest one? Well, something that every game on that list have in common.
Or Sacred Gold & Witcher 2

ToxicCosmos: oo, what game would this be?

yanko44: It's called Euro Truck Simulator ;-)
bahaha. oh, god. those simulator games kill me. Truck Simulator, Fork Lift Simulator, etc etc. wtf? seriously ridiculous imo. :P
avatar
Crappynuker1: Could be ..

I give a last try
Sacred gold and Reus?
avatar
KMJX: You sure that was the last try? Because it's wrong.
What does Reus not have in common with HOMM5?
Was it tomb raider like me D:!

Not much :) I didn't see that post where it should be in common with it

Thank GOG !

BananaJane: Actually this game looks like the questionaires at the start of ultima 4 and ogre battle and morrowind.
Is it pretty much a questionaire the entire game?
Cause that sounds fun
The random events are like that, yes.

Things ranging from ordinary (marital disputes) to very strange (forest nymphs giving your men STDs) can happen, and you have to pick one out of (usually) 3-4 options how you will deal with the situation. The skills of your council members can help give some options a better chance of success.
