Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

BananaJane: But it looks like a strategy click around on stuff kind of game

Fellin: I kinda want to try it out, but at the same time spent way too much already and really don't know if I should :/
Yeah same, I already spent like 17$, I don't wanna buy a game that makes you do all sorts of math

VultureDude: does witcher 2 go on sale often?
Not really. As much as any other game over here. But since CD Projekt RED, the developers of The Witcher series, are part of the CD Projekt Group, who also owns GOG, you're not going to get better deals on it on any other digital distributor. With both the Christmas sale and the release of The Witcher 3 upon us, expect some good discounts on The Witcher and The Witcher 2 very soon.

wrathsinger: I concur. (Playing on a laptop operating on Linux)
Yeah, it's Linux for me, too. But I figured that once something runs in Wine, in runs in Wine. Whether it's Wine on Linux, Mac OS or Windows. ... there is a Wine for Windows, isn't there? Like for games that don't run on Win 7 or something.

UncleOvid: Honestly, I think that would defeat the purpose. This sale is MADE for impulse buying. It's like the bargain bin at the movie store: you don't pick through it looking for a specific movie you want for cheap, you rummage around and go "Escape From New York is in here? Jeez, I'd probably never pay $20 for this, but at $2.50, sure!" Complaining about the sale (ESPECIALLY the freebies) is, I think, totally missing the point.

Me, I've been checking in for a couple hours every day, never gotten a freebie, and only bought two games: Deux Ex, which was in my wishlist, and KIng of Dragon Pass just now, entirely because it looks interesting and costs a buck fitty. Love. This. Sale.

BananaJane: Yeah but if you're looking through a bin you don't have to look at Jack Keane 2 for 5 hours
Eh, you don't have to do that here either.
Actually this game looks like the questionaires at the start of ultima 4 and ogre battle and morrowind.
Is it pretty much a questionaire the entire game?
Cause that sounds fun
Does anyone think that Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete might go on sale again. I've missed it at least once!
FUCK YOU, NETBEANS!

Sorry, got carried away by the chat nature of this thread. Utterly OT warning.

CorranHorn: I can recommend taking a look at the Kickstarter for Project Eternity (Obsidian)
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/obsidian/project-eternity

CarrionCrow: Well, I watched that and I now have another game I'm going to buy, and will be willing to buy at full price without feeling like a complete idiot.
I didn´t back it but I will get it if it´s as good as it looks, so many Kickstarted games that I can´t afford to back them all but I will get them when they are released and I have money to do so=).

Nope. It was already up few days ago. :(

Sorry.

Read that and started laughing hysterically.
Then the tears began.
Not sure if it's PTSD or catharsis.
I'm gonna skip King of Dragon Pass. If I need to think this hard about it, I obviously don't want it that badly :)

Yes it will, especially during the Christmas sale coming up...

... I should add not in this Insanity sale though...

bringthemback: Sacred Gold & Thief 2? :P
Actually, I will miss Thief 2 on purpose, since one of my extras was asked in trade for it.

Has everyone given up, or are they all digging deep in the nearly 32'000 posts of this thread?
Page 1550 should be as far as you need to go look for my posts, since hints have been repeated a couple times (except the post that says which games in this promo I own on discs. Additionally, I came to the sale at the start of the third and final round, so there's some narrowing down for everyone)
Oh and another thing about King of Dragon Pass:

It DOES have a world map. But the map is flat and there is a lot of unknown territory and foreign lands you will only hear/read about in political dealings. The game world is centered around your own region, like in any proper early middle ages inspired setting ;)
