Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

BananaJane: Dragon Pass is selling faster than any other game, is it good or something?
Yes, it's very good.

tvzz000: is gog in trouble? are they going out of business? this sale seems like a fire sale

RandomJC: If all of their games were on sale, I'd maybe sorta agree.
What?! There are such sales everywhere non-stop. This is one of the only ways to sell stuff, especially non-critical stuff like games, in a time of economical crisis. GOG are doing just fine.
Anybody have a spare Thief III code they may want to trade? Feel free to PM me if you happen to have one.

You should know the answer to this one yourself.

All the hints you need to figure the answer out are in this thread, and most of them are repeated in relatively recent posts
I have another giveaway coming up...please stand by

Nope. In case you didn't notice, there are other things taking people's minds right now (like PS4/XB1 launch), so if you care about these much, you are busy and won't use the sale. And even then, getting a good deal out of this takes helluva time. GOG may be pretty sure that it wouldn't squeeze that much money normally out of people who are desperate enough to stare at this.

CarrionCrow: Ya know....maybe I've just completely lost my mind, but I'm noticing that compared to my old desktop, having one with Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale, Planescape, Deus Ex, System Shock 2 (large amounts of thanks once again to Cardian), Jade Empire, Neverwinter 1 & 2, Alpha Centauri and Master of Orion all on it just kicks incalculably larger amounts of ass.

CorranHorn: I can recommend taking a look at the Kickstarter for Project Eternity (Obsidian)

Well, I watched that and I now have another game I'm going to buy, and will be willing to buy at full price without feeling like a complete idiot.

Their parent company is public. They release numbers. gog makes millions, this sale is a drop in the bucket.

I don't think so, GOG and its parent company, CD Projekt, are fine and healthy, as far as I know. They just like to spoil their community with sales like this every once in a while. I'm guessing it's probably because they wanted to have a Fall sale but with the Christmas sale approaching, they chose this flash sale format. Then again, it could be a whole number of reasons, I'm bad at that kind of thing (economics and PR and commerce, etc).

I do think, however, GOG is doing just fine. If they were in trouble of any kind I'm positive they'd let us know.

Dajjer: TO KMJX

Props man, this listing has made the sale a million times better. I doubt I would have hung around here for the past 3 days if not for this list. GOG should pay you. But I sincerely thank you.

BTW, luv you subtitle

KMJX: Thank you.
Just keeping up the work someone else started (multiple people, but the only one I remember off the top of my head is gogbot)
I was pulling together a few lists that were floating around. KJMX, myself and another user whom I've forgotten (sorry mystery warrior) were running strong in tandem for a bit. I succumbed to my mortal limitations and obligations some time ago. KMJX has certainly been the most resilient. HUGE  to KJMX for keeping up on it!

(Been trying to rep every time I see the list posted).
When I first heard of this sale, it seemed mildly interesting, and I figured I'd look at it occasionally, maybe snag a game or two; well, that was days ago, and I've pretty much been monitoring it non-stop since then, at least during my waking hours. It's been strangely fascinating, following this thread that that has grown to Brobdingnagian proportions; I'd previously just thought of GOG as a store, but now I see there's a community here as well, one of the nicer ones I've encountered. I ended up buying more than I'd intended, I ended up with:

Baldur's Gate 2
Beyond Good and Evil
Blackwell Bundle
Book of Unwritten Tales
I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete
Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Ed.
Planescape: Torment
Primordia
Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator
Space Colony HD
Wing Commander: Privateer

Many were impulse buys, especially the RPGs. I've never even played an old-school RPG (I was always more of an adventure guy), but I've always wanted to try the genre; this seemed like as good a time as any to do so cheaply, so I picked a few based on their overwhelming popularity in this thread. Now I just need to actually get around to trying them...

Haven't played it yet, but 573 ratings on the product page averaging 5 stars is usually a pretty good indicator :)

I haven't gotten an answer to my guesses so far, but if it isn't Sacred Gold & Evoland, I'm out.
