Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Senteria: I actually started clicking before the free game came and also during the free game showing up, but before I was even able to get the free game showing up it showed it already expired. How can it expire before it even shows up on the page. That's not fair. :(

lefty: Overloaded GOG's servers and a huge internet connection latency I think...
They probably need to find a different way to do freebies..Having fast latency so close to them is a tad unfair

Flam3crow: 100 copies of Magrunner
Pass

Eh, Magrunner.
Again!? I think they're repeating some games...
I expected the Duke Nukem 3D sale would go fast.

ACGIFT: Were any of those copies of Wing Commander Privateer ever actually gotten? I had no problem snatching up any of the purchased sales without delay, but suddenly that appeared, and even though I was quick with the trigger finger... Everything suddenly decided that was a curiously good time to "lag," and it waited out for the meter to vanish before popping up the "it's already expired" message.

I mean, seriously, when it was a PAID game (even when I changed my mind) it took less than a second to pop over to the order information screen, whereas that time it waited a good 10 seconds or so.
When 100000 clicks instead of some 100 are coming in it is quite a difference, So yeah it may be some waiting time, when a freebie shows up.

But check your mail, I got one although I never saw a checkout screen, only blue globes or oops.. - I should click less on the Get it Free button.

Check your mail or game list if you got the error message when pressing buy now, GoG servers can´t handle the load when many people buy games at the same time.
Oh shit, new games - not good, not good!
100x Magrunner with only 50% off? That could take a while.

Frostyfirefly: Eh, Magrunner.
Amen. At least it's only 100 copies.

Shad0WeN: The charity sale was a good idea but this is just retarded. People have better things to do than sit around waiting for something they want to go on sale on one of these special deals that changes every 2 minutes. Saw a comment from someone else that said it best:

The "I have no life sale" indeed!

If you want to bring in new customers this isn't the way to do it. Personally I do not buy games from GOG and the reason is simple: your sales stink and you just aren't competitive with offers from other digital storefronts like Steam, Green Man Gaming, Gamefly, and even the Indie Bundle sites. And running this ill-thought-out promotion does not help change that perception for me.

Brabantis: I don't know, would a "cool story bro" or a "tl;dr" be more appropriate here?
I'd be more inclined to toss a "qft" his way.

Does that happen?

That explains everything.

Indeed.., and I feel bad looking at the sale since it started... I need to stop now,
