Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

trustymutsi: Every time I think I've gotten my last game, a few more catch my interest from reading the reviews, or reading comments on see boards.
Exactly, since the promo started, I added about 10 new games to my wishlist.

Thruggsen: It's an old newspaper term, they would have a section for public advertisements and they would indeed organise them all into categories, hence "classified ads".
That explanation actually makes sense; thank you :)
Brutal Legend looks like one of those games that I don't particularly want to play, but I am glad it exists. I enjoyed watching the trailer.

I missed Thief 3? Oh well. It wasn't a 'must have' on my list. IT would of been nice though. At least Jade Empire is still up.

KMJX: To pass a little time, I'll give a mystery key to the first person to find out which games I actually missed (those I missed for lack of funds don't count).
Should the key belong to something already in his possession, we'll figure out what happens then ^^

Prydeless: Deus Ex, MOO, HOMM5, SS2, Aquanox 2, BG2, Sacred Gold, Thief 3?
Good job digging out the biggest Hint, but the answer is not correct.

*THWACKS you*

That is all. Now go to your room and wait for 1 & 2. :|

cpucrust: No problem. You might find this hard to believe, but I lived in Bayern for a little more than a year (ten years ago) and I certainly "struggled" with your language!

mudd1: Lol, I would find it hard to believe if anyone *didn't* struggle with German. And Bavarian German in particular. I struggle with that.
So true! When I was in Bavaria, most of my German work colleagues were from Northern Germany, and they struggled with Bavarian German. LOL
Just got Brutal Legend, I play guitar and if I didn't buy, I'd probably get kicked out of the League of extraordinary rockers
Wow, 3 days of enduring and now two things from my wishlist come one after another:) Officially done with this sale now that Brutal Legend is in the bag:)
The total haul eventually was: Chaos Engine, Rogue Legacy, The Real Texas, King of Dragon Pass, Myst, Sacred Gold, Rayman: Origins, Thunderscape, Hotline Miami, Theme Hospital, Larry: Reloaded, Witcher 2 (gift), Cognition.

Phew! It's been absolutely a blast guys, but now it's time to drop unconscious. To all of ye still waiting on your favorites - good luck!! Signing off, and may the Keane stall the sale when you sleep.

stan423321: Physical shops have been running sales this way for years and years, and yes, it hurts some games. Nobody cared then, I don't see why we shall care now. The waiting thing is the whole point of the Insomnia Sale.

Next up: Brutal Legend, 450 copies, 3.74$.

MechaKong: Nobody buying the games cares, but you better believe that the developers, publishers, and retailers care about the sales reputations of their games. To make this relationship between the retailers and the uncaring masses more copacetic, the retailers need to reconsider their approach, hence the suggestion of timers.

The timers would still have you waiting in line for the next game, you just wouldn't have to worry about any "Keanes" popping up unexpectedly.
I think that the devs / pubs of these games would've accepted the possibility of a title being a slow seller, but considering that these games are here, shows that they thought it worth the risk. Plus, at up to 80% off, they're more likely to get more people buying their game, than suffer any long lasting 'bad reputation' for being slow.

I mean, who's going to remember any of this once the xmas sales happen??

IanM: It's an old expression from the adverts that are placed in newspapers and magazines. They are arranged by type or class e.g. marriage, birth or death notices, personal ads (dating) items for sale etc. So usually they are referred to as 'classified ads' or just 'classifieds' and sometimes 'the small ads'
Yep, figured it out finally. Thanks for the explanation :)

Thought my vocabulary wasn't too bad but then such a simple thing as classified ads still gets me. Slightly frustrating I have to say ;)
Good morning/afternoon/evening, everyone.
Did they ever get around to putting out Jade Empire or the first two Thief games?

Once upon a time I had a girlfriend from Berlin, I started to learn German pretty much from scratch (had studied French at school) - she would always roll her eyes and tell me "You sound Bavarian" which I gathered was the single most uncomplimentary thing she could think of to say about my efforts.

I figure that if I snag Thief 1 and 2, by the time I finish them Thief 3 will be on sale. It's all part of my master plan...yup.

Faenwulf: Wasn't it NWN?

KMJX: No
Thunderscape?
