Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

MechaKong: The next Insomnia Sale that GOG have like this definitely needs to be based on timers and not quantities. The idea of quantities is too arbitrary. I understand that it's to emulate the whole "get em' while they're hot!" -feeling of purchasing a game from a store shelf, but in practice it's definitely hurt a few games' reputations on this site. It's also prompted users to wait around for unnecessary amounts of time (albeit, by their own volition) while a game that isn't popular drags on and on and on without selling.

stan423321: Physical shops have been running sales this way for years and years, and yes, it hurts some games. Nobody cared then, I don't see why we shall care now. The waiting thing is the whole point of the Insomnia Sale.

Next up: Brutal Legend, 450 copies, 3.74$.
Nobody buying the games cares, but you better believe that the developers, publishers, and retailers care about the sales reputations of their games. To make this relationship between the retailers and the uncaring masses more copacetic, the retailers need to reconsider their approach, hence the suggestion of timers.

The timers would still have you waiting in line for the next game, you just wouldn't have to worry about any "Keanes" popping up unexpectedly.

Conquistador looks interesting, but aside from the occasional free game, I might be out from the sale since I'm spent.

MystifiedFire: Is it Aquanox?
It's not Aquanox, it's not NWN, it's not JACK KEANE JENKIIIIIIIIINS!, it's not Witcher 2.

Additional hint: I own a boxed copy of it, just as I do with the first one that was correctly guessed, and people are still leaving out of their answer.

On an unrelated note, I hear Brutal Legend is actually a pretty good title, but I really can't afford it anymore this sale around. Even if I drop my wait on another one I want xD

Oh my God yes! Brutal Legend right during my afternoon break. Who would have guessed I could catch it in a ten minute window, hah! Thank God for Paypal and smart phones!

mudd1: "Classified"? I'm not sure I understand.
It's an old expression from the adverts that are placed in newspapers and magazines. They are arranged by type or class e.g. marriage, birth or death notices, personal ads (dating) items for sale etc. So usually they are referred to as 'classified ads' or just 'classifieds' and sometimes 'the small ads'

EX-Deimon: The Witcher 2?
avatar
KMJX: I got that one (though I didn't really plan on it)
Additional Info: the opening post says "games" in plural, so you need to post all of them to qualify.
Wasn't it DEUS EX, MOO, HOMM5, SS2, Aquannox 2, BG2, Sacred Gold, Thief series?

My guess is still BG 1 or 2. (+ Sacred Gold)

KMJX: To pass a little time, I'll give a mystery key to the first person to find out which games I actually missed (those I missed for lack of funds don't count).
Should the key belong to something already in his possession, we'll figure out what happens then ^^
Deus Ex, MOO, HOMM5, SS2, Aquanox 2, BG2, Sacred Gold, Thief 3?
avatar
KMJX: That is one of them, yes. there is at least one other though.
I'll take a guess. Giana Sisters?
Every time I think I've gotten my last game, a few more catch my interest from reading the reviews, or reading comments on see boards.

cpucrust: No problem. You might find this hard to believe, but I lived in Bayern for a little more than a year (ten years ago) and I certainly "struggled" with your language!
Lol, I would find it hard to believe if anyone *didn't* struggle with German. And Bavarian German in particular. I struggle with that.

I already have the Steam and Humble Bundle version (DRM-free). I don't know if this version of Brütal Legend is worth it...
I guess Thief 2 :)
high rated
This sale reminds me of when I go grocery shopping hungry and without a list. I buy WAY more than I ever planned on.
