Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

low rated
The charity sale was a good idea but this is just retarded. People have better things to do than sit around waiting for something they want to go on sale on one of these special deals that changes every 2 minutes. Saw a comment from someone else that said it best:

The "I have no life sale" indeed!

If you want to bring in new customers this isn't the way to do it. Personally I do not buy games from GOG and the reason is simple: your sales stink and you just aren't competitive with offers from other digital storefronts like Steam, Green Man Gaming, Gamefly, and even the Indie Bundle sites. And running this ill-thought-out promotion does not help change that perception for me.

lemoribond: Is Prince of Persia (2008) ever getting a sale spot?

I've been sitting here for over 4 hours waiting for it, guys.

I'm kinda unemployed and poor right now, so that would be really cool.

undeadcow: Prince of Persia was just part of a recent weekend sale (60%) off, it'll likely be on sale again but apparently not in this insomnia sale.
oh, that's a bummer...

misjustamilo: Oh, great
I just woke up and missed many freebies!! :(
No you didn't.

The freebies have been ridiculously small numbers (20-40) and gone before mere mortals even see them in most cases.

It's basically a game of "who has the fastest bots?"/

ACGIFT: I mean, seriously, when it was a PAID game (even when I changed my mind) it took less than a second to pop over to the order information screen, whereas that time it waited a good 10 seconds or so.
It's because there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people with their eyes glued to the counter, waiting to click and shout "FIRST!!" the moment the new button appears. That tends to make 24 free copies of a game disappear rather quickly.
Come on people, buy the rest of those duke games and let's move on! ;-)

GOG gets a 30% cut as they mentioned on their indie page a while back, so they made about 45 cents off each, not counting processing fees and what not.
Man, I just checked my mails before going to bed. "Dont fall asleep promo" ...now what...

Actually it's complete and utter luck, I actually almost had a few, but I was a few milliseconds too late :/

Defect450: If Witcher 1 is on there I'll be soooo happy!

I just beat The Witcher 2 the first time yesterday and it was AMAZING I need MORE!

mrking58: Dude I have a spare copy of the witcher 1 if you want it
Dude I would love it if you could spare it :D

That's true, but since they re-list all the freebies for $2 within an hour or so and with 500+ copies I can forgive them.
I wish they made the freebies giveaway a little more random and less latency based, e.g. for a few minutes you can submit a click if you want the game, then some randomizer script picks some winners from those.

30% off a full price game. What they get off a discounted game is anyone's guess.

Oh my, pretend you didn't see it. It's better for you.

Melhelix: No fear! They are repeating the sales and seem to be releasing them in larger batches! Plus, quite a few people left, so lighter server load. Which is great cause we were crashing the GOG servers like mad.
There actually aren't that many games on GOG that I don't already own. If I had the money, I'd own everything on the site. P
