Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Kaitu: I dropped at least $40-50 here (still have a bunch of codes I'm hoping to get back the cost of or trade once all is said and done but still)... :-p

foxworks: I wept when I added up it all up yesterday. But I'll live and smile when I start to download and play these classic gems.
Found some I never thought I'd like to be pretty kick ass!

Don't Starve is an awesome game that is fun but creepy at the same time.

RCR is a fun, retro tribute.

Got a copy of Myst (one of my all-time favorite games) as well as WC:P & Beyond Good & Evil.

Go ahead! :)

keef0723: Next Game: Thief Gold

(been a while since there was a $2 game)

Xabyer_B: Yes, please.
Same,

kklsid: Now there's a sight I didn't have before... dropping a key and nobody redeeming it? Wow. Must be the influence of The Keane himself.

Since Cognition is now below 40, I guess I have to tell you to look up my last post before the game goes away :p
I tried (5min? ago), but apparently I don't know the letters of the alphabet, as I got an invalid code error.

Minmataro: THis game is a failure of a keane...

It was supposed to stay up until i was out of work but no... people actually want a 10 dollar adventure game...

LOL

Oh well.
Without getting into games themselves as I haven't played either (fortunately? unfortunately?), Cognition's premise is more promising than Jack Keane's. You're an agent... and you can glimpse at the past! This sounds like overpowered power, but it's probably not, so what could they add? Some kind of power limiter? Past events being insanely hard to interprete? Perhaps a villain that can mess with the past visions?

Jack Keane 2? You are a treasure hunter and for some stupid reason, you begin the game in prison. And you are gonna travel all over the world and beyond. So if I was given just the descriptions, I'd go for Cognition.

dal4fsu: So now that we are getting to the end, what is left that people are waiting for? I myself want Jade Empire and King of Dragon Pass but I could care less about the rest. It seems as though most are waiting for JE, Brutal Legend, or the Thief games, but I haven't heard many clamoring for the rest.
Honestly I want to see the end of the sale, and be disappointed that there won't be anything special just the end and cheerio.

Cardian: That would be the longest point-and-click ever.

howardc007: Yep. For those of you who remembers the old Infocom game, Bureaucracy, it'll be like that :)
I think I'd end up with a real-life aneurysm.
To pass a little time, I'll give a mystery key to the first person to find out which games I actually missed (those I missed for lack of funds don't count).
Should the key belong to something already in his possession, we'll figure out what happens then ^^
I just noticed I quadrupled my game gallery...I had 3 games and got 12 during the sale... :x
Well well... just checked King of Dragon Pass, another game I didn't know... and I guess it's another impulse buy for me; screenshots look great, reviews are great (5 stars) and the game has a metascore of 90 ...

Shendue: JRPG.... They are very different from WRPG games. If you like WRPGs you may even hate them.
avatar
IanM: Hate is a strong word, but I could never got on with the random battles in JRPGs I tried. P:T, BGII et al I can happily play for weeks at a time.

I'm all for offbeat Japanese style though, Ganbare Goemon 5 / Mystical Ninja is one of my favourites :)
Having grown up with random battles in every Western RPG (Wizardry, Ultima, Bard's Tale, Gold Box D&D, etc) it confused me for years why people seemed to think they were a Japanese thing. Then one day I realised that Western RPGs had sort of exported them to Japan with the Wizardry license, never to be seen on Western shores again. I think the reason it took me so long to notice was that I played so many older games.

foxworks: There is a classifieds section in the forum. That will be your best bet for now. But agree, an actual exchange platform would be helpful.
"Classified"? I'm not sure I understand.

I just realized that the top level forum is flooded with giveaway threads though, additional to the main giveaway thread. There must be a better way for that. And it doesn't address trading :/
I'm kind of interested in Cognition, but don't have the kind of money for it. So, if anyone wants to trade it for a bunch of gog keys (Fallout 1, Witcher 1, TA: Kingdoms and Planescape Torment), let me know!
avatar
mudd1: Another site feature I'm tempted to suggest is an official gift code trading platform ;)

I for example would like to exchange my extra copy of Witcher 2 for Nexus and Aquanox 2. No idea how I'm going to reach that exact person that is interested in this exchange *and* will still have leftover codes for these two games.

There is a 'stickied' Classified thread. Here's an example:

Have: [GOG]
Chronicles of Riddick
Sacred Gold
The Witcher 2

Want: [GOG]
S2: Silent Storm Gold Edition (Most Wanted!)
Grid
Rayman Origins
